^^ Excellent advice above.

My first car went to a scrap yard & was crushed. I'll never get to drive it again

It was a '76 Grand Prix SJ with 400/TH400, Bucket seats, etc. It started a long line of GP's (5 total), and Pontiacs. I someday will own another '76 GP.

Just a little advice, dont worry about making it fast or painting it just yet. Clean it up, make sure everything works on it, especially the brakes, and drive it. Enjoy it before life gets in the way and suddenly that engine swap or paint job you were doing stalls and you havent moved the car in 20 years.

That is a great first car, just enough power to get in trouble, but not so much you will break stuff all the time. It also isnt a generic crap box with a 4 cylinder in it. You done good man.. This is a great place for information and help, plenty of knowledgeable people here who know Pontiacs better than they know themselves.
Very good advice indeed...and I did notice the cross! Did they bury a pet there, or

That's because it's an Interstate battery! They're the best!

Wyatt - just got back from Bradenton drag strip - hope to see you there sometime.
That is good news about your interior - sounds to me like you have a real winner on your hands - congrats.
Hey, are you Jesse's son ?

Wyatt - say hi to your old man for me. Hope to see you and Jesse at the track soon.

Didn't do as well as expected last night with our best pass being an 11.78. 60 foot time was right there [1.61] and 1/8 mile time was good at 7.44 but the big Cat didn't seem to be going soft on the top end, mph was off by about 3. May have had the carb too rich so I jetted it down tonight for the next trip out.
Not many cars showing up for the Thursday TNT recently. You can make a bunch of passes if you want.

Good luck with your Poncho,
Jim

Very cool, I still have my first car setting down in the basement garage....owned it since 87 and will never let it go. Very true statement about once you own a Pontiac you will own them forever.

Those floor plans look pretty good from the pix and if that is the worst of the trunk floor then you'll get it done.
Jesse - Mike Chell did get some new tires and may try to make Runday Sunday to test them out. Steve's Goat is running very strong, broke into the high 11s. Just needs a little more carb.
Going to try to make it to TNT at Bradenton this coming week.

Jim
