Default Noisy Valvetrain

I have a noisy tap on number 8 cylinder rockers that I can't get to quite down, so I'm looking for any suggestions you guys might have. I have a 428 with KRE "D" heads and a Comp Hyd. Roller cam. I've adjusted the valves several times using several methods. I also changed the hyd. roller lifters, push rods, and roller rockers ( Crower ), and I still have tapping on the number 8 cylinder valves only. All other valves are quite. Any ideas?
Thanks. Bob

Sounds like the oil galley plug was left out of the rear of the passenger side oil galley. This plug is inside the block about 2" in from the 15/16" access freeze plug in the rear of the block. I drill a .040" hole in the galley plug I install in the rear of that oil galley. It gives positive lubrication for the distributor gear.

Did you happen to check the valve guides on that particular cylinder when you changed out the parts?.....Cliff

Thanks for responding guys.

Paul-drilled gally plug was installed and eng has great oil pressure.

Cliff- no I didn't check the heads personally, but I did have them gone over. I'll have to check with the shop and see if the guides were checked. One thing I forgot to mention; the tapping is llouder after the eng warms up. I feel it has to be something with the head, as everything else has been changed. I guess I'll have to pull the head and have it gone over.

BTW, I received the 10" continental torque converter I ordered from you last week...thanks for the fast service.

Could it be a pushrod? Sometimes you get a tapping noise when the pushrod holes have not been clearanced for high ratio (1.6, 1.65) rockers...

69Goat1, thanks for the response. The KRE heads come clearanced for 1.65 rockers, but I checked them anyway and found the clearance to be good. I'm thinking it has to be something with the valve spring. Thanks. Bob

I wasn't thinking about it being aluminum head. They will grow quite a bit and loosen up your valve lash accordingly. How much are you lashing them? 3/4-1 turn? Or only 1/4-1/2 turn?

Paul, lashing them at 3/4 turn. I guess I'm just going to have to put up with the tapping, it's not that loud, just annoying.
