Well, you proabably know where it is, so the best thing is, it's progressing again.

It's now back on four wheels, motor/tranny in, fenders/hood on, working on front end right now. Then, interior...then maybe done?

It's closing in on 3 years...

When is your GTO going on the bay? You need to speed up that white SD sale!

This white SD is now over $45K...

Once again, good luck with both SD's. Keeping my fingers crossed on your AB car, I do know.

I'm gonna start marketing the GTO heavily within the next few weeks. I'm having the paint professionally polished and a few minor loose ends taken care of before I get serious. I have had a local rather serious "nibble" within the past week, It might pan out.

I only hope that I haven't waited too long. I wouldn't blame the SD seller for losing patience with me at this point.

Lloyd, you might want to throw it on the ebay express if Johns car brings top dollar, who knows????????? it sure gets allot of exposure.

ran across this photo online looking at another car and thought I'd post it. Not often you see an SD T/A with a vinyl top, not sure if it's a real SD or not but there are several vinyl top cars in the SD registry. This was from a car show in October '08 somewhere in Arkansas, maybe owned by someone here now or in the past? Hard to tell with the glare in the pic but it's White/Blue/Blue custom interior

Rick - that may be Chris Ritter's (PY - critter) SD.

He's in Arkansas, and has a gennie Cameo White, cordova top '74 SD T/A.

Not "counting any chickens" just yet, but I have a couple of guys coming over tomorrow to take a peak at my GTO. I'm also taking it out to a local cruise spot tomorrow afternoon with a "For Sale" sign on itl.

I finally had a chance to see why just about everyone is crazy about SD T/A's- yesterday I met a guy named Gregg who owned a 63k 4-speed Brewster green SD T/A survivor. I went over to his home to buy parts, and next to his parts pile in the garage was the car. He told me that the car had be touched up in different spots, but you could still see the paint was original, as was the custom Parchment interior with cloth inserts. It was also interesting to see a T/A with such low options (heater only, manual windows) in combination with the custom interior.

Gregg was not only very kind enough to show me the car, but also invited me to sit in it and start it up- the first time I had ever started an SD T/A. I've met SD T/A owners in the past weren't so pleasant when it came to anyone being near their car, but this gentleman redeemed any of them with his hospitality and kindness. I'm sure he would have taken me for a ride if not for his girlfriend waiting for him.

I talked to Gregg the other night- he told me his SD has 35k, not 63k on it. I didn't take any detailed pics of the car, but it was a very clean survivor. I'll ask if I can take some pics next time.

I serious doubt I'll ever have the opportunity to own an SD, but it was really nice to touch and sit in one- pretty much the Holy Grail of Firebirds. There are plenty of mega HP 70-73 Firebirds out there, but I can now see why many Firebird people love the HO and SD T/A's.

looking for a picture of the rear alt bracket found on some 73/74 cars. anyone have a good shot of it? I believe it bolts to both the t-stat housing and intake as well as the alt? was this on all alts or just certain ones?

Keep yer eyes open, especially on the HO stuff. I said the exact same thing "Never own a SD or HO" but found a great deal (so good I hate to say $) last year locally (Montana) on an HO top end. May be years before I build the engine with it (have a 455 w/ 96 heads now) but it sure feels good knowing I got something I never thought I could. It will be especially fun having an HO 455 in a bird with F400 emblems, hehe.

The cruise-in was nice - good food, good friends and cold brews!

Keeping your fingers crossed must have helped, Brew. A local attorney buddy of mine came out to see my car, and called a friend in San Antonio about it. The friend is meeting me at my house this very afternoon to take a look for himself.

Methinks I'll have a '74 SD T/A in my garage before long!

As far as my car goes, it is used on the large case alternators which are mounted stationary. Belt tension is by a pulley apparatus mounted on the engine just below the A/C compressor.
