Keith -
Love the pics! My problem, tho, is who goes around taking pictures of parking lots, streets, etc.? I don't see a particular focal point in a lot of them. So, where did you get all these? You've made me think about going to my local county museum to see what kinds of things they have in this vein. Could be fun. cm

Once I started looking, I just couldn't believe how prevalent the Pontiacs were in these pics. They used to be "just cars"; now they are "time machines".

There is a thread called "Old Street Scenes" over at Yenko.net. I've been working my way through there and pulling out any where I can see a Pontiac in them. I'm about 2/3's of the way through...

Keith! Loved the photos of these cars in their natural habitat in a time that seemed so long ago. There are a few things I've noticed that hepls leave the photo in my mind. 1) The bult buckle of the guy leaning over the fender of the 65' Pontiac. 2) The Lemans (?) wagon with a smack on each panel. 3) Convertible roof on the 61' Impala? 4) The photo with the swimming pool and all the cars are blocked in. 5) The 57' Pontiac convertible with the top down and a pretty girl in the back and the parade is ....Winter Carnival. 6) Some things never change.........some people can't park straight in parking spaces.

Keith, thank you for posting the pictures. It was a great walk down memory lane for me, especially since I am 7000+ miles away and can't drag out my own pics. Love the one with the FB convertible and the tux, reminds me of what I wore to my High School Prom. (I admit it)

Here are a few original "back in the day" pics......
The first set of pic were given to me by one of my teachers in high school. I had a '67 GTO at the time (1982) and he mentioned he had bought a '68 hardtop brand new. These pics were taken the day after her took delivery in early '68 from Monte Clare Pontiac on the corner of Oak Park Ave and Grand Ave in Chicago. (now the site of a Pep Boys after going out of business in the early 90's) Vedoro Green with a 4 speed. I have a copy of the window sticker somewhere too. Check out the droopy LH headlight door and the very poor fitting nose and valance panel! The other set of pics would make any GTO lover cringe! I took these early '82 after a buddy totaled his '67 gold hardtop by taking a sharp curve too fast on Grand Ave just east of River Rd in River Grove Illinois. Spun out, jumped the curb and hit a pole. Dunno what happened to the car after I took these pics but I'm sure it was scrapped soon after. ![]() Lets see more back in the day pics! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
