PHS Papers.pdf
Hello to all; (Especially John V. if youre out there) I'm new to this forum, so bear with me. I could use some help decoding Kansas City shipping manifests for two cars. (pdf file attached) I received this paperwork from PHS about 5 years ago, but never doubted the "Written" options listed from them, until I got into working on the cars and noticing discrepancies. For example, on the Black car, it lists a reverb option. When we finally found one, got it to work, we went to install it... No holes for installation!! (I doubt it ever had one). Also, There were mounting holes and a console bracket in the floorpan, but PHS did not mention any console. (At least on my Fremont car, if no console - They didnt drill holes). Example 2; On the Tan car, PHS marked "Deluxe Steering Wheel" as an option, well I thought that was Standard on the Lemans series. I have a "Custom Sport" (Wood) steering wheel, which was on the car when I got it, and I think that should have been marked by PHS. I believe it may be confirmed with the 50A code on that sheet. (I decoded what I could from one of John V.'s recent threads). Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks, AJD. |

I'll start with the Alamo Beige April Hardtop first. Black Wheels. Originally sold to a Dealer in the Omaha, Neb. Zone, 054 not identified at the Ultimate GTO site, any idea who the Dealer was?
I assume you can figure some of the info out. I'll hit the interesting codes. This GTO is pretty lightly optioned. Trim Code C, Lemans Bucket Seat Interior, Saddle Color. 306 is base GTO trans 3 spd Manual box with Floor Shifter. The Trans Code RG confirms as the Manifest Code for the 3 spd box. Also, the Ident-O-Plate imprint (from the original factory warranty plate that was put in the Warranty Booklet that shipped in the glove box) shows the Engine Code as 78X. A Wide Ratio Muncie 4 spd car would be shown as 78XW (or 78X9 if equipped with 3.90 axle ratio). The Group 2 Code L on the Data Plate indicates that Fisher Body cut the Floor Pan to accommodate the Manual Trans Floor Shifter, same hole for the 3 spd & 4 spd floor shifter, same code (this code not used at the Pontiac Plant because the floor pan cutouts were made on the Final Assembly side of the operation there). 31D is base GTO 4 bbl 389. The Engine Code 78 confirms as the Manifest Code for a 4 bbl 389 (Manual Trans in this case) as well as the aforementioned Ident-O-Plate imprint. 321 identifies the Safe-T-Track limited slip differential. No code in Box 33 indicates the car was equipped with the standard release axle ratio preference for this combination (in other words, the Dealer Order did not specify a special order axle ratio). The Rear Axle Code 3K confirms as the Manifest Code for the Safe-T-Track with 3.23 standard release axle ratio. The earlier KC cars used a slightly different Axle Coding as you can see on the January car (K1 is the early year code for the 3.23 Safe-T-Track). 350/367 is the Tire Option, 07 identifies the 7.50x14 Red Lines that were used on some '64 GTOs. The 7.50x14 White Walls were a no cost substitute and a lot of '64 GTOs left the factories with White Walls. The Tire Manifest Code for the Red Lines is FR. 392 is believed to identify the Sales Code 452 Tachometer. I have not determined this with a high degree of certainty. Does this car have a factory Tach? 461 is Sales Code 532 Tinted Glass - Windshield Only. This is confirmed by the Group 1 Code W identified on the Data Plate. 482 is Sales Code 521 Custom Wheel Discs (the "spinner" style discs). 50A you correctly surmised is the Sales Code 524 Custom Sports Steering Wheel. You are also correct, the Deluxe Steering Wheel was standard content on the Lemans & Tempest Custom so never would be listed as an option for them. 517 is the Sales Code 414 Seat Belt Deletion option. Early year, the Front Seat Belts (2 outboard front seat positions only) were strictly an extra cost option (Sales Code 411) and were almost never ordered. More commonly, the Sales Code 624 Custom Seat Belts w/ Retractors were ordered. After Dec., GM announced that they were making the 2 Front Seat Belt sets standard content in all GM passenger cars. The optional Sales Code 411 went away, the car Base Prices were raised $11, the Sales Code 624 option was reduced in price to account for the inclusion of the base belts, and a new option was offered, the Seat Belt Deletion at an option credit of $11 for those that stubbornly refused to pay for an option they didn't want. Your car was so ordered. The Group 5 Code O on the Data Plate identifies the deletion, the Fisher Trim Code used at KC to indicate that the now standard Front Pair Seat Belts should be omitted on this Body Assembly. That's it, all the other Manifest Codes are routine codes for the base content equipment in a GTO. The Spring Codes SR/PN were common to all GTOs unless you had A/C, specific Front Springs were used with A/C applications. Shock Code WY is standard too, optional HD Shocks were available but not ordered for this car. The Ident-O-Plate imprint is especially useful if you want to check for an original Block. The first no. is the Motor Unit No. Unfortunately, it isn't legible on your PHS. For a mid April build it should be real close 397628 and probably has a Block cast date around C204. If it is the original Block, I'd be curious to know the actual MUN and cast date. Following the MUN is "78X" already mentioned, then 2237 RR 216 2721. The Body No. 2721 means yours was the 2,721st Lemans Hardtop Body Assembly produced by Fisher Body-Kansas City. The availability of the Lemans Hardtop Body Style was announced shortly after the '64 Models went on sale and it quickly became very popular vs. the Style 2227 Lemans 2 dr. Sports Coupe. The 2nd Line reads 824M16029 D16 Q (Q is my way of writing the old Pontiac Indian Head Symbol that it really is). D16 is the code for April 16 to match the "Broadcast Date" indicated on the Form. It is not real clear what date this corresponds to, possibly the date that the Body Assembly production began in the Fisher Body side of the operation. Final Assembly may have occurred a few days later, no way to really know. The Starlight Black GTO is very similar to the 1st one, I won't repeat where they are identical. Sold to a Dealer in the same Omaha Zone, 027 Dealer Code also not identified. Trim Code E, Lemans Bucket Seat Interior, Black Color. This car did not get a Wheel Disc option, it was equipped with the standard content Hub Caps (so-called "dog dish" or "poverty caps"). Consequently, it would have been coded for a "coordinating" wheel color, the 3rd letter in the Paint Color code. All cars with full wheel disc option got Black Wheels, code A. Since your car is Starlight Black, the "coordinating" wheel color is also Black, code A. 303 is the 4 spd Manual box with Floor Shifter. The Trans Code RB was the early year code for the 4 spd (exc. with 3.90 Axle), later gave way to the Code WY, not sure exactly why, possibly when the new '65 Trans p/n came into use. Ordinarily the Ident-O-Plate would have shown the Engine Code as 78XW. Yours omits the Primary & Secondary Trans Codes. The Block itself certainly was stamped 78X at the Engine Assembly in Pontiac, most likely KC added the W at Final Assembly like they were supposed to when the car was equipped with the 4 Speed and 3.23 axle ratio. The guy who produced the Ident-O-Plate simply failed to add these codes, I have seen similar omissions on other KC & Baltimore Ident-O-Plate imprints. The Data Plate should show the Group 2, Code L same as the other one. 350/366 shows that this car was built with the 7.50x14 White Wall Tire GTO over-ride option. Tire Code FY was used for this tire on early GTOs, later on Tire Code FZ was used. I don't know the reason for this change. There is the remote possibility that the FY code indicated the White Walls mounted on 5" wide wheels as this was an optional tire for other A bodies and the FY code appears on non-GTO builds. The GTO was supposed to get 6" wide wheels, possibly this was corrected with the introduction of the Code FZ later on. If you have the original wheels, I would be curious to know what they measure. 44C is Sales Code 392 for the Pushbutton Tune AM Radio with Front Fender Mounted Manual Antenna. 452 is Sales Code 421 for the Windshield Washer with Dual Speed Wipers. 477 was used to identify a few different options as best I have been able to decipher. I am interested in learning which of these were found in this car. Instrument Panel Pad (Sales Code 424), Electric Clock (Sales Code 604), and Glove Box Lamp (Sales Code 482). None of these are certain, very difficult to break the codes in this Box. 56Q is another code that I haven't broken (have seen it once before). To the best of my knowledge, many of the Lamp Options were coded by letter code in Box 56 and the various combinations of Lamp Options were given letter codes as well. Some of the Lamp Options that may have been coded in Box 56 include the Luggage Lamp (Sales Code 481), Ash Tray & Lighter Lamp (Sales Code 492), Courtesy Lamp (Sales Code 491), Parking Brake Lamp (Sales Code 494), and Underhood Lamp (Sales Code 404). The combination of Luggage Lamp & Underhood Lamp was apparently coded as 56P. I'm curious to learn which of these Lamp options are on this car. 62A is Sales Code 601 for the Floor Console. Should be Group 2, Code G on the Data Plate. The Radiator Code 57 identified the standard 2" Core Rad but with the Oil Cooler for Auto Trans applications. The Code 50 was same 2" Core Rad but without the Oil Cooler so used for Man Trans Aps only. The Auto Trans Rad was used for many Man Trans Aps, the cooler fittings simply plugged. Spring Codes ZZ/ZH were simply early year Spring Codes. I don't believe they were different in any respect to the SR/PN Springs, just a different Manifest coding used early year. Ident-O-Plate coding is similar to the other one, MUN looks like it might be 169763 or thereabouts which would have had a Block cast date around L53 (Dec. 5, '63). Again, I'd be very interested to learn the actual MUN and Block cast date if it still has the original Block. The reason PHS thought this car was built with the Verbra-Phonic Rear Seat Speaker option was because of the KC Code 477. In Pontiac-speak, this would have meant a combination of Sales Code 471 (Back-up Lamps), Sales Code 472 (Dual Horns), and Sales Code 474 (Verbra-Phonic Rear Seat Speaker). Your car did get Dual Horns but not as an option, they were standard content in the Tempest Custom & Lemans. And your car did not get the Verbra-Phonic Rear Seat Speaker or the Back-up Lamps (consequently, there is no Group 2, Code P on your Data Plate, right?). They would have also told you that code 452 meant this car had a Tach instead of the Washer & 2 spd Wipers that code 452 really identifies on a '64 KC document. I would like to know what Accessory codes are on the Data Plate for the Black GTO. I'm guessing 2LG 5N but wondering if any others show up. If I missed anything or you want more detail, let me know. I have submittted a pretty thorough decode document to POCI and was told they would plan to publish it by June. |

John - I do not know how to thank you enough! You answered many questions that my Dad & I have been scratching our heads over for the last 5 years.
The Black car was restored a couple of years ago by my Dad & me. The 1st and only restoration after being wrecked back in April of '64 (more like a resurrection - but that's another story, seen any recent HPP magazines lately?? Feb. I think.. Yep that's Dad's Black car.) I'll go back to Dad's place, get a jpeg of the data plate, get all the motor numbers, its hard to read on the PHS, and follow up with some answers to your questions. Thanks Again! - Tony. |

Listed below are follow-ups to John V.'s questions relating to the decoding of my 2 Kansas City Built '64 GTO's:
Alamo Beige Car: 1. Original Dealership? According to PHS, it was originally delivered to Bickley Motors Inc. - Ida Grove, Iowa. 2. Black Wheels? I see the “A” code, but the funny thing is, when I got this car from the auction, the wheels from this car’s chassis were an off - yellow color, and stamped 14x6 JK. At least 1 of them has a small hole drilled not to far from the lug hole. Ever seen that? Except for color and the hole, they look exactly like my Red Fremont car’s wheels. I just assumed they were this car’s original wheels that maybe discolored over time. Oh, well... They’re black now, and used on the Black car, which were missing its original wheels. 3. What is the actual MUN and cast date? It was a little more legible on my PHS copy than the pdf copy - sorry. I’m quite confident that it was 407623. Unfortunately I do not have it, nor a trans. I’ll be using an Oct. 3 ’63 78XW block (J 3 3) MUN 054776 found at a swap meet last year. Only a couple of days past the press release? Unless a correct motor with a closer to April date option pops up, I guess that one will have to do. 4. Trans Code RG confirms 3-spd? Interesting. PHS wrote this car up as a 4-spd. It would have been nice to know that before I bought the block mentioned above. 5. 392 – Factory Tachometer (Sales Code 452)? Dash bezel & Gauges were missing when I got this car; PHS did NOT indicate a tach. 6. AM Radio? I noticed you did not mention any AM Radio for this car, since the 44 code is blank. Could that possibly mean that manual tune radio or radio delete? I doubt the latter. Black Car: 1. Original Dealership? According to PHS, it was originally delivered to Arrow Motors Inc. – Broken Bow Nebraska. However, it was purchased new thru a dealership in Fairfield, Iowa, where the original owner was from. I do not know exactly how the transaction from Nebraska to Iowa took place. 2. Does Data Plate show the Group 2, Code L? (Attached jpeg, its blurry, sorry) 1st Line; STYLE 64-2237, KC, 2037 BODY 2nd Line; TRIM 214 AA PAINT 3rd Line; ACC. 2LG 5N 3. Original Wheel Width - 5” or 6”? Unknown. – Likely bent-up when wrecked. We did not get them. As noted above, we used the 14x6” wheels from the Beige car for the Black car. 4. 477 - Used to Identify Misc. Options? Instrument Panel Pad (Sales Code 424) – Yes, still wearing orig. black vinyl. Electric Clock (Sales Code 604) – Yes, and still works, but we restored a different bezel and put in a repro. ’64 tach, since that’s what PHS said it had. It looks like the clock was original after all. Glove Box Lamp (Sales Code 482). – Yes. Orig. harness was there. 5. 56Q - Lamp Options? Luggage Lamp (Sales Code 481) - Unknown, Orig. deck lid did not survive. We put one in during restoration. Ash Tray & Lighter Lamp (Sales Code 492) – Yes. Under-hood Lamp (Sales Code 404) – Yes. Courtesy Lamps (Sales Code 491) – No. Parking Brake Lamp (Sales Code 494) – No. 6. 62A - Floor Console? Does Data Plate show Group 2, Code G? Confirmed in the 3rd line of the data plate…I believe. No console in the car when received. Likely was damaged in the wreck. The shifter lever was bent. Mounting holes were in the floor pan in perfect locations. Bracket was even there. The original front carpet even has the cut-outs. To me, that made it obvious. However, PHS did not indicate a console, so we did not put one in during restoration. 7. Radiator Code - 57? No cooler fittings. It looks like a standard manual trans. 3 core radiator, just like my Fremont car’s original one is. 8. What is the actual MUN and cast date? Engine Code: 78XW MUN: 169768 Cast Date: L 6 3 (Dec. 6th 1963) Cast Number: 9773155 9. 4-Speed Trans? Is original, as is shifter and ball-knob. The Vin # is stamped on top of the Case, and the 977.. part number tag is still attached. 10. No Verbra-Phonic Rear Seat Speaker or Back-up Lamps? There is no Code P on the Data Plate. I guess this explains why we had no Back-Up Lamp switch on the 4-Spd, or wiring harnesses. The rear bumper was missing when purchased. Another thing I should have noticed before… No reverb switch or mounting hole in original dash bezel. We restored it with B/U lamps and a Reverb… Oh well, it sounds kind of cool. 11. PHS says code 452 meant car had a Tach instead of the Washer & 2 spd Wipers? Yes – It has the 2spd Wiper/Washer system as KC identified. Thanks - Tony (AJD1964) |

Tony, BTW, welcome to the PY Forums! I hope you won't be a stranger.
Thanks for the detailed answers, very helpful to me. I will especially note what you've provided for Box 47 & Box 56. I'll submit the two Dealership Names to Ultimate. They make perfect sense, when originally assigned, the Dealer Names were assigned alphabetically within each Zone, Arrow Motors and Bickley Motors fit the alphabetical pattern. Didn't think it was so common back in '64, but I suspect that the Iowa Dealer did some sort of Dealer trade with Arrow Motors just like happens today. Last summer my wife bought a new car. We cut our deal with our local Dealer based on the package she wanted knowing that he would get the car "no problem" even though he didn't have one in stock, he checked inventory in the Southeast Zone and found what she wanted at another Dealer about an hour away and made a trade to get it. She had it the next day. The Window Sticker shows the name of the other Dealer where it was originally delivered, but that's not who we bought it from or where we took delivery. I'm guessing that is the same scenario that brought the Black GTO to Iowa. Only difference, it may be a little easier today to keep track of the Inventory by computer, but I do know that they did track Dealer inventory even back then. Don't know a lot about the Wheels. The coordinating '64 Wheel Color for an Alamo Beige car would have been Saddle. I'm guessing that would look more brown than the off-yellow color wheels on the car. Anything possible, but perhaps the wheels were swapped from a later year GTO (not sure what year may have used off-yellow as one of the wheel color choices). I am not up to speed on them, but you can also check for the date stamp on the wheels to see how they would match to the April build. I'm not familiar with the hole you mentioned either. Haven't paid close attention to that kind of detail. MUN 407623 makes sense to me. It would probably have had a Block cast date around C254. A comment about the J33. Yes, the GTO had just been announced. But there is a misconception about when PMD started producing the GTO. '64 Final Assembly production at the Pontiac Plant began on Sept. 3. The GTO announcement was timed just as the '64 models were permitted to go on sale at the Dealerships. But the cars had already started to fill the showrooms in the weeks prior. The earliest GTO build was no later than Sept 11. The Engine Assembly Plant would have started to assemble GTO engines, same as all others, prior to the start of production and of course the foundry was casting components for them earlier still. So a J33 Block is early but the earliest cast date in a GTO engine would have been weeks earlier. This is a long read, but here is a recent thread you might enjoy: http://forums.maxperformanceinc.com/...d.php?t=580192 Story about the '64 GTO convert I owned 35 years ago. It had the original 3 spd in it when I bought it from the original Owner. It didn't take me long to buy a 4 spd and swap it in. The 3 spd was left at the curb and resides in a landfill today. I repeat that story often to beat myself up over youthful stupidity! Worse, I basically abandoned the good running car (last known to be at a towing yard near Wood Dale, Ill. in late 1979, seen it around??!!). Yes, the Radio, Antenna, & Speaker options were coded in Box 44. Unless something very strange happened, this car left the factory without a Radio option. "Radio Delete" is a hobbyist created misnomer. The Standard Content build for a Pontiac A body did not include any Radio, you couldn't "delete" what wasn't there. If you didn't order one, the standard trim plates were installed. However, the Radios and Antennas were offered as Dealer Accessory Packages (I assume the Front Speaker and the Radio Trim Plate was included in the Radio Package) so it would not have been uncommon for a car that was ordered without a Radio to have gotten one Dealer installed. But I would be pretty confident to say that the Alamo Beige car rolled off the Final Line without a Radio. What is the Time Built code for the Black GTO, not clear in the pic? PHS has confused lots of KC (Balt is the same) Owners with their decodes. The KC Code 452 Washer & 2 spd Wiper Option is pretty common so LOTS of KC Owners have been incorrectly told their car was built with the Tach. Another common option is the Mirror Group option. On a KC Doc, the combination of the Visor Vanity Mirror and Remote Control Outside Mirror is coded as 605. PHS will incorrectly decode this as the combination of Console & Electric Clock. PHS has told KC Owners that have Code 452 and Code 605 that their cars were built with both the Tach & the Electric Clock! As an aside, I think both Options are cool. The '64 Tach is somewhat lame functionally but I have one to install in my GTO that was built with neither option. And I have always loved the look of the Rally Clocks. I dragged a few of them home from the junkyard 35 years ago but never found one that worked, or didn't know how to install them correctly. Unfortunately, I didn't keep them. Either option spices up the '64 I.P. But until I'm convinced otherwise, the KC Code 392 stands as the Tach option. Interesting the Black GTO got the Code 50 Rad. Not a big surprise, no doubt there was a permitted substitution to the Code 50 Rad for Man Trans cars even if the docs called for the Code 57. On the trans p/n tag, please confirm if you can, should read 9774825. If I ever find anybody that has a Code WY trans indicated on the KC or Balt doc with the original p/n tag, I can see if it shows the '64 p/n or perhaps the '65 p/n. That isn't a very big mystery since it might just be a manifest code revision just like the Spring Codes, but something to look at. BTW, my present '64 GTO convert which is unassembled is a Fremont car if you have any questions pertaining to your Fremont GTO. |

John, Per the "Pontiac Motors Lady" 476 is the Electric Clock and 392 is the (90 degree sweep) Tach Option.

Hi Tom, I recall yours has the Instrument Panel Pad and IIRC a 1 in Box 47? Please recheck because I also recall you telling me that you think it had a factory installed Clock too.
To date, I have found KC & Balt Docs that show codes: 471 472 474 475 476 477 Tony's is just one example that does have the I.P. Pad and only the Code in Box 47 can be connected to it (7 in his case). And the car also came with what was likely the factory installed Clock and probably the Glove Box Lamp, just like I expected for Code 477. As I mentioned earllier, I believe the I.P. Pad, Electric Clock, plus the Glove Box Lamp are the 3 options that were coded in this Box. This is based on evidence collected from numerous Docs and comparing my decode to evidence found in the cars themselves. For all I know, maybe there was a Code 473 too for some option that is just so uncommon that I've never seen it on a Doc. But based on the evidence that I have collected, I show Code 476 as I.P. Pad & Electric Clock. So the lady was 1/2 right (IMO!). I show the Clock alone as Code 472. And the I.P. Pad alone as Code 471. The problem is for examples where the Doc might show 471 but the car has the I.P. Pad plus a Clock. My opinion is that the Clock was installed as a Dealer Accessory. But unless the Owner knows that to be true or unless the Original Window Sticker exists, I can't be 100% certain. Your GTO might be one such example of that. Plus, none of these 3 options are identified by Fisher Trim Codes, so can't get help from seeing the Data Plate. Are you sure the lady showed the Tach as 392? According to our exchanges 3 years ago, you indicated by email that she listed the Tach in the Box 47 codes (which I concluded had to be wrong after a lot more research). I am 90% confident the Tach is Code 392, I'm just curious if she did show it that way and you just reported it to me incorrectly first go round. |

Hey John V.,
The 4-spd Transmission tag is moderately flexible steel approx 1/2" wide by 1.5 or 2" long, and bolted to one of the upper bolts on the side cover. Number is: 9774825, as you expected. The time built code on the Data Plate is 01B (2nd Week of January '64). Thanks again for taking the time to assist. BTW.. Where did you learn all that? Did you work at the KC plant? Later, Tony. |

Glad to help.
Nah, never worked for GM, and my 9th Birthday came just before your Alamo Beige car was built! I just love the '64 GTO so I enjoy figuring out every little thing about them that I can. When I discovered that the guys with KC & Balt '64s were getting weird info from PHS, I decided to see what I could figure out. That started about 3 years ago although I've been devouring everything I could about the '64 GTO since I acquired my 1st in '73. I also have the original p/n tag on my '64 4 spd. |

Hello John, Sorry for the confusion on my part with the codes. After reading many of your posts I know more about how to read them now.
I had the Clock and the following lights: Glove Box Light, Ash tray light, Under dash lights, Brake warning light, and the IP Cushion. Code was 476 in the box. Some of the items may be under another code. The lady shows the ash tray light under 56E (U28). Tach code is 392 I am sure, as the guy who I bought my tach from has 392 on his sheet too. His car showed 471 as IP Cushion only. The lady says back-up lights are 431 (T86) but I have 43K a code she showed as a ? mark. Don't know what 43K is, do you??? Tom Vaught Again, don't know how much goes with 476 but assume IP Cushion, Electric Clock, plus the Glove Box Lamp.

Tom, this is what makes Box 47 & Box 56 so difficult to breakdown. There may very well be a 4th option in Box 47 that I just haven't picked up on yet.
I don't think 476 and 477 can both identify IP Pad, Electric Clock, & Glove Box Lamp without one of them (probably 477) identifying an additional option. The ONLY option that I have been able to determine in Box 43 is the Back-up Lamp Option. To date, I have found Codes 431, 433, and 43K. Regardless of which code, every car with any code in Box 43 has always had Back-up Lamps. 431 is likely the code for Back-up Lamps by itself. 433 might be an early year code that was used for Back-up Lamps ordered in combination with Console, meaning the Doc alos showed Code 62A but I can't explain why that makes sense. I have only seen 433 on early cars that also coded the Console, auto trans or man trans. But that may just be a fluke. One of the possibilities that I have considered for Code 43K is that it could have been used when the Protection Group was ordered since Back-up Lamps was included with that Group option. It would not have coded ALL of the Protection Group options since some were definitely coded elsewhere, but perhaps 43K coded Back-up Lamps plus one or more other options in the Protection Group. The only thing that I have found consistently is that Back-up Lamps will be included whenever any code is found in Box 43. So still trying to determine what else might be part of Code 43K. |

Here's a BaT 64 GTO that has some 'misprints' ?
64 GTO 1st the Shipping Order and the 'Invoice' are from 2 different dealers and the engines are different. The invoice looks like it was changed? 2nd the window sticker uses the wrong codes for the kansas plant. But seems to have most of the actual option correct, just numbers wrong? The EUN on the Shipper Order Form seems to be correct. (uses the P.O.P.) The EUN on the Invoice Form (written in) is way off for the VIN. But the car has a 421 tripower so doesn't matter i guess? My interpretation of the Shipping order form: Paint: L is Marimba Red Metallic Model Series: 2237 is LeMans 2 door Hardtop coupe Trim: D is LeMans Red Morrokide bucket seat interior Box 30: 3 is wide-ratio Muncie 4-speed manual trans Box 31: D is 4-bbl 389 CID V-8 (GTO option only) Box 32: 1 is Safe-T-Track locking differential Box 34: 1 is Power steering (Pontiac sales code 501) Box 35: 07 is GTO 5-tire set, 7.50x14, 2-ply red line (only offered with the GTO option package) Box 43: K is Back-up lamps with Basic Group option Box 44: C is Pushbutton AM radio- manual antenna (Pontiac Sales Code 392) Box 45: 2 is Windshield washer w/dual-speed wipers (Pontiac Sales Code 421) Box 46: 4 is Inside tilting day/night non-glare mirror (Pontiac Sales Code 442) Box 47: 6 is Instrument panel pad & electric clock Box 51: 4 is Custom front pair seat belts w/outboard retractors (Pontiac Sales Code 624) Box 52: 4 is Rear window defogger (Pontiac Sales Code 541) Box 56: K is ourtesy lamp (Pontiac Sales Code 491, except convertible), ashtray/lighter lamp, parking brake lamp (Pontiac Sales Code 494), luggage lamp, & underhood lamp (Pontiac Sales Code 404) Box 60: 5 is Visor vanity mirror & remote control outside mirror Box 63: W is Not known (Baltimore car with dome & reading lamp) TRAN: WY is 4-speed wide-ratio manual trans, late (exc. 3.90 rear) RR AXLE: 3 is locking Safe-T-Track Tire: FR is 7.50x14 redline (GTO only) RAD: 50 is 17.5" x 2" (no oil cooler, man trans GTO exc. Upon further reading, the window sticker probably is correct, I was thinking wrong on some of the codes.
