OK, before you go there I can't shoot the cat and it is a pretty good hunter bringing in mice, moles, etc., so that part I like....but...

We have an open carport where my wife and I park our daily drivers. Most every morning I come out of the house to discover that this cat has been walking and parking his white, long haired butt on our cars and it's driving me wild. I just hate that!!! I can't catch it on there during the day when I can whack it a good one, it's just @ night when he does this perching on our cars. We often have stray cats coming around after hours, but I'm pretty sure it's our cat because of the white hair.

I don't want to cover the car cause that will just make it more comfortable for the damned thing. I just want this cat to fear this car like a 200# pitbull!

Anybody have any suggestions? I'm not opposed to a little pain and misery on his part if that's what it takes. I've had it!

I've been told by cat people that hanging a paper bag above the car on a string will keep them off. Don't know for sure, never tried it.

I'll try anything, I so frustrated. I actually thought about using some sort of bait and a trap. I'd love to get his butt in a rat trap. My luck I'd probably kill it and my wife would throw me outta the house.

Cats like to be up on high places so they can see things and feel safe, plus the car is probably warm. Maybe you could build a carpeted shelf that would be more attractive for him to sit on.

The only other options I see are to not let the cat out at night, or else put the cars in a garage.

i think that would be the best solution, maybee a overhanging shelf, since it seems cats like to be in up hi where they can see/hear anything

A shelf some distance away plus some loose mothballs under the hood and in the cowl by the windshield wipers should turn the trick. Put the mothballs in a little cloth sack and they should last quite a while. Long enough to change his habits, anyway.

Borrow someone's dog and let it sleep in your car overnight, or tie it up next to the car.

We've got a problem around here with robins getting excited about their reflections in the cars' side mirrors and sitting on car doors for hours on end. Come out to find the whole door covered in poop.

My grandfather had a cat like this and a cat on the farm is a good thing , so we built him a little house with a light bulb for heat and we had no more cat on or under the hood problems with the trucks , the front of the cathouse was open so he could see out and prop his lazy butt up there waiting for the mice o run across the floor . the car we covered with cardboard and placed mouse traps on the hood upside down to scare the snot out of him when he jumped up there , after 3 nights no more sitting/sleeping on the catalina .

Get a humane cat trap, bait it with cheese and I promise you'll find a cat in it in the morning. Here in Tucson, most everyone lets their cats roam and I hate it. I trapped six strays in six nights before it solved my problem. I took them into the Humane Society, explained how I got them and gave a $15 donation each time. $90 in donations and the problem was solved for years. To my knowledge, none of the "owners" ever bothered to recover a cat from the Humane Society. Let's face it, no one who lets their cat roam at night gives a d@mn about it. Lately, I've noticed cat spray on my trailer tires in the carport, so I may have to do it again. With the spraying, the late night cat fights and the crap, I hate 'em.

Try a piece of cardboard large enough to cover the flat surfaces (hood, roof) cover the cardboard with a rubber cement or spray adhesive. Then rub the adhesive, after it dries, with some rubbing alcohol or solvent. That makes the adhesive sticky for a long time without drying. Even a double sided tape would work nicly. Cats absolutly hate anything sticky. It might jump up on it once or twice but it definatly won't stay up on it.

My dad when he bought his 64 GP new had a problem with a cat and he put a piece of cardboard on the car then would put 4 little meatballs with cayenne pepper in them. He said the first night all were gone. By the third night they would not take the bait or get on his car anymore.

This is funny, Reminds me when my neighbors wife left him and all his 5 cats ended up outside, they keep getting on my car and digging up my flowers, I picked up all five one day and took them 20 miles away to the next small town and dropped them all off, You should have see the confusion on those cats faces when I let them out. Hehe, But I never saw them ever again.
