Cool, another SD in Cali! No 310 HPs were ever made. EPA dropped the axe on that. From memory, the card date is about a month or so before the build date of the car, but someone else could probably elaborate better. I could go out to the garage to check on my '73, but I'll hold off for someone elses answer.

In a word about the 310 horse motor possibility,.......NO! All volume production SD motors got the milder cam & were rated at 290HP.

I'm in Rancho Cucamonga. How about you? It was fairly original when I bought it, but it needed refreshing, which is where it is now.

Rated at 290 is VERY conservative and most people would agree 400 + is more within the guide lines of an original production motor.

![]() ![]() So maybe SOME ONE with those 290hp SD cars would like a straight up (or ride)against my lowly D port L75? ![]() I have to experience one of those "X" cars to believe it

Duane, like I said its what I have heard not seen. It would be great to find out what a stock SD pulls on the table and maybe soon will all find out?????? until then I'll have a car down there within two weeks and will rip it up a little to let you get an idea (if SDD doesn't take you first)>?
Youssef, The car is coming along and looks great. I did notice he taped off black firewall paint to the red oxide undercarriage which looks weird since there where no clean lines like that back in production. I understand however no one is going to see that since at Pontiac shows they dont look that close to these details unless you at the POCI or own a GTO. Enjoy and keep up with the updates. Everyone loves to see a car come together especially a frame off. Cheers, Brew |

Brew: I noticed that, how should I do it?, I know that the edge is not correct either, I am going t make him drop it down some more. You think that just kinda have an edge w/o a a tape is the way to go? thanks Youssef

Yeah, each and every car is different and some have the red oxide showing on the bottom area of the tunnel and firewall and some do not. For the most part the car was on the move and the painter was aiming straight at a vertical surface. I have seen some cars even showing red oxide up by the cowl seal windshield area instead of being all black.
The norm is trying to duplicate what was there when the car is being prep'd and thus the reason for pictures, pictures, pictures..... You could have him tape above 4-6" blast some more red oxide let it dry and then hit it with the black and feather in the top. Overspray the bottom line and call it done? Others might have a better option since Im not a painting expert ?

I dont know Craig, notice that drip on the trans and those rusty exhaust couplers. I'll have to get my act together and clean this beast before coming down next month.
Hey, maybe we could get SDD to have a PARTY ???????????? what do you think? Sean, wants to hit a couple cruise nights by his place and will let you know where the White Cooler is going to be in order for you to schedule something. Thanks for the comp, ![]() Brew |

Cars that are never driven any further than on and off the trailer tend to stay nice. Notice no rubber on the quarters from smokey burnouts. He keeps threatening to drive it but he never does. LOL

Hi Bob, "
![]() After driving that HO formula SDD was so nice to let me use for the WEEK. The four speed no console thing blew me away and got me hooked. I'm trailering the car down next month to drive on those clean southern roads. It needs it bad cause it is running like crap! that or I need to give her allot attention in the plugs, wires, or adjusting the dwell and timing. If you want come help me dial in this car so we can run her and place some rubber dust some where. Im tired of people telling me how clean my dirty car is!

My carb is out being redone, I hope that I have it back by the time that you come down here to the deep south, so I can join up.

I wonder how Norwood's car will run with a 800cfm SD carb on it?
Don't worry Craig, we will get you converted even if it's one SD part at a time! Hey Brew, what about that SD block, SD heads and a SD intake we have????? We could build it and test it in Craig's car, but he might not want to give it back!! But he WILL have to put that new clutch in it though to handle that ~400 HP ![]() Sorry, just me pushing some more buttons, again ![]() SDD
