How does that noshift trans work? like a hydrostatic drive or just wind the motor out?

IMO it doesn't matter It's where the parent company is because that's where the profits end up.

At this point I'd buy Ford.

it's simular to a snowmobile ,variable clutches ,keeps the RPM's up, consant velocity transmission . CVT
when they blow ,they blow ,but for the most part they have been pretty good

I've been working in a Nissan / Chyrsler dealer for 23 yrs
I can tell you horror stories about both brands , Nissan is owned by Renault ,they bought in back 1999 when Nissan filed for the Bankruptcy,,
2002 -2006 Nissan had some big issues ,it is getting better
these arguments about were they money goes are a waste of time .
even Nissan has parts made in China ,, they are owned by a French company

all these companies are worldwide now, wheelin and dealin ,lowest bider ,profit per unit
American Pride is lost ,what ever happened to those old guys that used have those bumper stickers on ther cars that said BY AMERICAN ,, my 2c

They have to live off their investments and want the companies they invested in to make a profit?.

American Pride is lost ,
I could not disagree more. Buying American is more important now than ever and we all need to identify apathy and eliminate it. The car makers know that the apathy is out there, so they take advantage by using some foreign parts. If we didn't buy foreign products, (providing demand) they wouldn't be so readily available costing America jobs. Your American pride may be lost, but I can assure you, mine isn't.

What I don't get is the government always refers to THE FAMILY OF FOUR whenever they talk about anything. BUT they want us to buy new appliances,ECT,ECT and take that family of four on vacation in little tiny cramped plastic roller skates. My wife could fill a 28ft enclosed trailer with all the crap she buys when we go on vacation.

That along with the fact that I'm 6'5" and all of the boys will be at least that tall who the hell wants to be stuffed in a Sunfire / Cavalier / Focus for any time at all. WE just physically won't fit in that crap.

For the maintenance issues I'll drive a Suburban before I will a minivan and fullsize cars, which is what we'd both rather have being left out of the market. I'd really rather have a Fullsize station wagon, comfortable, large cargo area, long enough to split the kids up when they fight as a family car. No one would buy those is the response Jen got when bouncing the car company reps when they asked for feed back.

It's just more dumbass people telling us what we want instead of producing what we actually do want.

I know what that's like. My wifes youngest is 15. 6'2 and over 200lbs. He can't fit in the back seat. Except the LeSaber and that is a tight fit.

Go ahead and buy an American car; millions of overpaid UAW employees/owners/Obama supporters are counting on you.

What is your budget?

While I'm not enthusiastic about their looks, I've driven a 2008 Toyota Avalon Touring edition and have been inpressed with it. That's the smallest car that I would ever consider.

For the cost of a 2009 Altima, you could darned near have a three year old Lexus GS300 or an ES330, which are both infinitely better cars than the Datsun.

From what I understand, Toyota still builds a better car than Nissan, a trend that hasn't changed since the 1970s.

And if the battle plan for GM/Chrysler is pushing little economy cars on the public , they'll fail miserably.

There you go.... perfect example of a smug know it all who actually knows nothing. Ever heard the phrase "Don't cut off your nose to spite your face"??? Perfect parallel here.

i buy GM. all of this crap about the UAW is making me sick. lets start with the REAL problem, management.anyway, there will be no JAP CRAP in my driveway.my dad is retired from gm,i dont think hes getting rich on $1200 a month. i guess all of you guys on here want to work until the day you die. i dont think $1200 a month is too much for 33 years of service to any company. i have family working for,or retired from, all of the big,or now little,3. BUY AMERICAN! BUY AMERICAN! BUY AMERICAN! BUY AMERICAN! get the idea?
