Tom Is there a way to get the connector out of the harness and replace it? My Brother also has a 74 challenger that has the same harness but its fried at the big red wire too, but the yellow ignition one is good

I see Paddock offers the ballast connector (less wire) for $10. Q1 I think you can make the wire & terminal. I'll check my mopar catalog to see if you can buy just the ECU harness separate from the ECU kit they sell. I see in one picture of the harness that the wire from the brake prop valve is tied into the ballast resistor? That seems odd.

Darby, is this the harness that's messed up? If so, it can be purchased from Year One (M & H is the manufacturer) for $40.

well thats nice too, but he needs the one at the bulkhead that comes out and runs to the ignition terminal on relay, its called the forward headlight harness, its like $189 he doesn't want to spend that this year so were trying to just get that one wire out of his other harness..That ecu looks like a good idea tho for that price. Tom the plug off ballast above is that the brake one then?

I place a sun tach on the steering column oriented over the factory one (they are never very accurate anyway). But I bet if you pick up a MOPAR COLLECTORS GUIDE (kinda like hemmings for mopars) mag somebodies got a fix for it by now. I just never cared for the factory gauges ie: speedo needle breaks when cable sticks, oil pressure and water temp aren't accurate,and if the volt gauge goes bad the car will either die when your driving or just won't start one day. Ask me how I know?

well got it running yesterday still doesn't run right.. need to time it etc yet,but found more bullcrap.. look at the pic of what someone did in the harness!

Glad its running, i've been watching your post over at Moparts lots of smart people there. Good archives of common problems,btw check into distributor reluctor placement it can be place on the shaft two ways. One way for BB another for SB.

I know many here have seen there share of nightmares under the dash. I know I have.

Before the days of M&H finding a car (60's-70's in the 80's-90's) that had it's original wiring was a rare thing. when you went to look at a (name your Pontiac) finding the stock radio in place and nothing hanging under the dash made one breathe a sigh of relief. Not a 100% sure thing but........

Yea Its running ,but not very well yet! Still not convinced its in timing, just not knowing what cam is in there and how big may still be a problem? Moparts rocks! thanks for telling me about it! well its a new dist so u would think its right?

Remove rotor and you will see 2 slots on the reluctor arrow on reluctor points the way the dist. rotates. New dist. Mopar or aftermarket?
