I believe I must have an earlier nose on my car, because (1) it doesn't feel as heavy as an engine block, (2) one side pretty well seats to the fender, but the other side isn't even close. It's about 1-1/2" off the fender, and attempting to push it in yields a metal to metal issue that can't be rectified. The nose mount bangs against part of the inside nose frame. The grills look like '70 or '71 grills.
I have a couple of spare '73 noses that are a different color. Is there a way or combo of parts that will allow me to use my early nose that's painted like the rest of the car? I hate to put a red nose on a green car. Even if those holes lined up side to side, the gap at the fender would still be huge and obviously wrong. The second issue is about needing a spindle. I need a right spindle for my car. What yr and models of car interchange with the '73 'bird? |

70-81 spindle should be fine it crosses ##'s
I think the 73 brackets are different too, make sure you have a matched set of brackets. Check the nose on floor to see if its twisted?

Do other car's spindles fit do you know? I'm going to Pull-a-Part for the spindle.
By what I can tell with the nose in place, the nose brackets look like mirror images of each other, and look like they might be the same as my 73 parts car's. The nose is off of it. |
