I worked with a guy that had built a playhouse for his kids. Part of it was built below ground. He was also an advid pipe smoker and his wife would not let him smoke in the house. I guess after the kids outgrew it, he moved a recliner, space heater and a TV into the play house and spent many a night sleeping underground.

Wow fantastic work! Thats built better than some homes I've seen. When I was younger my dad had built me a club house in the back yard. The city inspector came in and said it was to large and needed to be removed or it had to be considered a builing and his taxes would go up. So he decided to take it all down. I had the most friends that summer.

Funny you say that....Since I build in town, I did run it by the head building inspector one day, just so he wouldn't be pissed if he got a call from the assessor's office or some neighbor. The conversation went something like this....
It's how big? And it's in a tree? Two Trees? (long pause as he looks at me like I'm pulling his leg) Well, could you consider it a permanent structure? (Me - no) Does any part of the structure come in contact with the ground? (Me - nope) Well then I don't think we have any jurisdiction over it - (wink). He stopped out later that week and left his card in the door - on the back "Wow - Looks Good". LOL!!!
