9.2 deck height (same as BB Chebby) how hard for your deal. I know that a few short deck Aluminum All Pontiac blocks were poured years ago.

Man I had a bunch of mixed concepts in my typing that time.

I was thinking -.400 from a traditional Pontiac 10.243 would be about 9.8 but many think that the Ford 9.2 deck is a better deal all around so it you were going to do a short deck then do a 9.2 vs a 9.8.

It never came out that way though. LOL

Too late to learn how to type correctly and sometimes too lazy to proofread properly. Thanks Tom S and Cgeise.

I know the IA-II blocks have about 0.650 on the deck. I dont see what is wrong with going down to 9.800. The Hemi guys do it all the time. They have the same deck thickness and often go from 10.750 down to 10.200 to 10.300. The really fast ones rub the sand molds and get down to 9.800. Makes for a really light piston for that short 3.75 stroke.

Greg, the water jacketed heads are done, however we are not yet into production. We are going to spend the next few weeks in QC, flow bench, porting, etc.

Go it Exil.

Question for everyone. I have made the RA-V intake the stock height as it seems all Pontiac engines including the crate motor all had the same height so that they could go into any chassis config. Any thoughts?

Cool thanks Tom, on your short deck street engines what compression ratio seems to be working out? Tom V could probably answer another question, but we have always used the fact that a turbo doubles cubic inch relative size by enhancing induction like a big cubic inch engine draws air. So what pounds of boost is required to double relative cubic inch size?

IE....300CID = 600 CID or 400CID = 800CID @ X lbs of boost.

X = ? (my guess is 12?)

That is such a good answer. We sealed up my son's SC engine with our SS ring set up using the same parts otherwise, and it got tons more boost with the same pulley and same SC. I will get you some numbers for the Pontiac engines

LOL Jeff,

They turn 10 on Jan 24. Not quite yet. I told Casey my 24 year old that I think we could build an 80 Turbo, qualify top half of Indy in stock class and put the mufflers back on and he could drive it to school in the afternoon. He is doing the same with his Super Coup T-Bird only NHRA screwed those cars. His relatively stock SC V-6 is going 11.30's at 4100lbs. That tells me the Pontiac 80 Turbo project can be way better.

My SS buddy in Dallas is part of a group that leases a spot where they almost have a proving grounds of sorts for road racing and a huge facility to operate. Jimmy Johnson has been there. I plan to build a Turbo 300 for a 80 Pace car RA-V and run it on that course. Whoop the **** out of his Corvette.

I think the 80 Indy pace car was one of the coolest cars ever built, just never uncorked.
