Inline Tube does sell a repro, but it is incorrect and expensive - and it only has the month/year, not the full month/day/year. I had to really cut and paste (literally) to get their to work on my tank.

I would imagine Bill has a much more correct version.

Just a thought...If you are going to put the time into making something, why do you make it incorrect when you have the ability to make it correct? So many of the vendors do this and pass it of as correct. See my posts on Pheonix Graphics...THEY ARE GUILTY of this same thing. PLEASE SOMEONE EXPLAIN IT TO ME...sorry about the rant

Hmm, now how did they "paint" across the ridge on the gas take with a stencil overlay? i'm not sure you could get the 'e' to look that good, perhaps it was a spongy stamp. You can see how there is a bit of a smearing upwards.

I think the ink stamp on the gas tanks was stamped on before the sheet metal was stamped into shape. I found this inkstamp on the topside of one of my gas tanks.

The stamp is on the sheet and is the date of the sheet not the date of the tank. So depending on where on the sheet the tank was stamped from determines where on the tank the stamp might be or if at all.

Correct. This was discussed in another thread over in the GTO section. The steel for these tanks came in flat steel sheets. These were fed into the stamping machines that formed the two halves of the tank. The raw material was stamped by its manufacturer (USS is U.S. Steel?) before shipping to the GM plant that fabricated the tanks.

All this date code discussion and no one has asked about the date code on the Polyglas. Brent, Does your survivor tire have a date code? It should look something like the attached, located very close to the rim.

They should also have a red/orange'ish dot on the outside wall and a burnt orange pencil mark across the outside wall. I have an original in the garage and pic's of this on a 18k mile RAIV, the spare even had a "68" scribed on the inside wall of the spare in this burnt orange pencil marker... Our board member "Matt" knows this car well, he is the one who found it originally and sold it to the guy I visited to photgraph the car. I can't find the orange dot pictures or outside wall scribe marks pictures right now, buthere is a picture of the spare with the same ink pencil/crayon type deal writing...

Could you post a picture of both drivers seat belt labels? I have a local printing shop that is going to duplicate the label on a fabric/paper that just like the original. I have the back seat modal # and date code is 46A71 but I need the front belts model #

Pat...I am not sure if 72's are similar to 71's..but the shoulder belts will have 2 tags. One the typical date tag and then a green "caution" tag. I have the contact information of a guy who has rebuilt all of my seat belt sets and he provides these correct labels and has the right material, thread etc..They look great.. Let me know if you want his contact information..

the first pic is the two belts between the front seat and the console, the second and third are of the shoulder belt attached to the roof.

while we are on the subject, i have seen 70 and 71 TAs with the buckle holders on the center console, however with the 72s i have seen some with them and some without (like mine) was that an orderable option ?

Looks like I had my colors backwards.. Knew one was green... Anyway, if anyone wants the belt restorers contact info..just let me know.. he does great work and the tags are identical to originals.. well as close as possible..

my understanding on the buckle holders was that they were deleted from the consoles either at the end of the '71 model year or very early in the '72 model year. My 12B built '72 did not have them.
