If you need seatbelts or sunvisors PY now sells those. The sunvisors are also made by pui so they match the seats. I looked for both seatbelts and sunvisors 6 months ago and nobody had them.

Glad to hear that. I will check them out and hope you can buy the belts seperate as I don't need the whole set. Who does the head liner and where can you get the correct interior paint for the seat backs? Also does anyone know why worn TA seats lean to the center of the car? I am guessing that a rubber bushing for the seat back is worn or missing. I have looked for that bushing but don't see where anyone offers it. I am getting ready to redo my front seats and would love to know.

I am using the PUI seat covers and have done the rear bottoms and they turned out very nice.

Not happy with the rear seat back from PUI. It is oversized. It fit over the seat back and required no streatching to fasten it to the proper spot. There is no way I can streatch it any further because there would be nothing to attach it to.

This is the original and you can see there is nothing wrong with the seat back as far as a worn cusion.

Does anyone know where to get the front seat bottom wires that support the cusion. Mine are all rusted and I know with as many of these car as has been restored there has to be a fix I can't believe mine are the only ones that are shot.

For the front seat springs, you could check at www.transamcountry.com in the "interior" forum. There's an auto upholsterer there named mrpontiac80 who has made some of those springs and was selling them. He may still have some or know where to get more.

Also, you could do a search there for the leaning seat problem. I do remember someone saying something about replacing a plastic bushing and where to get one that will work. And there are other reasons, like bent or cracked metal sometimes.

Default Front seat support wires

I've restrung the seat supports with stainless wire. Used bar type wood clamps to hold tension on the springs while twisting the wire tight.
Don't remember it being too bad, but it's been close to twenty years since I did it.
I do remember it's easy to get the springs/wires too tight and the bottoms will be too firm.

Does he have a web site or phone #? I registered for that site but have to be approved and been waiting a day and a half already.

Since you may not have been able to look up mrpontiac80 yet, I'll send him a private message over at TAC and provide him with a link to this thread and see if he will chime in.

One other thing that I just thought of is that I would think any auto upholstery shop that's been in business for at least 10 or 15 years should have experience with how to reconstruct those springs.

Question for you guys...79 TATA manual carbs....17059263 - that carb is not listed in teufert.net, but it makes sense for a 400 manual carb...(17058263 is a 78 manual 400 car).

Anyone got a pic of one? I want to see if the vacuum fittings are the same as the carb I have (want to make sure it is not a restamp).

Thanks, Lou

I contacted him and have a set on the way. thanks

Does anyone know what the proper paint code is for the hard plastic interior parts? I tried the local paint store and they couldn't find it. I see some of the restroation companies offer a gray but nothing in their catalog says it is the proper one for the anniversary TA.

Question, I have seen 2 different styles of Radiator shrouds on TATA's. One is the ribbed one we see on most all 70-81 cars..but there is another one that is smooth and slightly smaller. Are both correct?

They're both correct. The smooth one was used on the 403 cars and the ribbed one was used on the 400 cars. That being said I'm not sure which one was used on the 301 cars. I never paid much attention to them.

The smooth shroud is definitely for a 403.

It'll work with a 400, but would not be original to a 400 car.

I guess never say never. I did see a yellow 79 400 car at the Nats that was a very low mile original; it had a smooth shroud. It shouldn't have been that way but it appeared to be untouched.

Man! Anyone else have that problem. Do the PUI cover usually fit better than that?

I'd be upset if I put out that much coin to have them not fit.

I'll be making that move at some point and don't want to have high-dollar stuff not fit...

I tried to reuse a 403 shroud on my TATA build. The hole is offset just a bit and the fan hit. I finally broke down and bought a repro shroud for a 400, and that got rid of the problem.
