I removed all the lead on my 68 , it covers several inches on either side of joint, and found the crack was actually in the quarter panel starting at trunk jamb corner and out along top of panel about an inch or so at about a 45 degree angle . The crack in the paint appeared to be along the seam, but it wasn't. With all lead removed you will see why it's filled and not a seam the way the joint is formed.I welded up the crack and used short strand fiberglass filler on the joint, after welding it solid, and it will most likely crack again but so far so good. You also need to fix that wheel hop problem. I've seen slow motion vid's were you could see the flexing of the frame affecting gap at fender to door on a hrdtp so imagine what it does on a vert. Hop stop bars, adjustable uppers, or fab up your own to correct pinion angle. My $.02 . Leo
