I have 1000000's of those screws in both tek & sharp point. I've been wanting to put some fastener kits together (in both original plain, zinc & SS) for these cars & others but have just never gotten around to it...
![]() Considering how many 70-73 original cars have been dissected by 70RAlll (Bill), I would like to hear what he has to say on this subject 1st before passing final verdict on the matter

Looks like I found the right ones at Napa. At least the flat, ridged, head resembles the posted photos. These should work well.

You found the exact ones I referred to in my message, oddly enough, only place I ever came across them auto-store wise was NAPA.

Went for another ride today, this time around 5 miles or so. Noticed my 2008 refurbished tach wasnt reading right - When it's reading 3500 in third gear and you downshift into second, it should go up, not stay at the same rpm. Seems like the tach wont rev above 3500. I hung a Sun tach on the cowl and it functions properly. I contacted the company by email and we'll see if the will recheck it under a warranty.
I was wondering if anyone has experience with the OER repro tach. It appears to be listed for 73-75 Firebirds. Wondering if it is compatable for 72s as well since they are also the 2-wire design and they look exactly the same, face-wise. Don't really need the clock since mine works, but there is no way to buy it without the clock. Part# RFI394B from our host Anyone have any experience with the OER unit? ![]()

Steve, if they don't fix it mack sure that you post WHO THEY ARE so we all can stay away from a company that provides that kind of customer service.

My guess is that Steve has had his dash bezel restored by Randy Coombs. When Randy started doing these I believe he was using a larger diameter tool which made bigger circles. Since then I understand that Randy has perfected these and they match better.
I could be wrong though! Steve?

No resto on the dash panel, other than by me. That is the original factory metal finish. All I did was strip off the original yellowed clear coat with lacquer thinner and then recleared it.

I checked on the pricing of the repro gauge. The cheapest I could find was at classic industries with their 20% off coupon that is good til 03/31. But I just refuse to purchase anything from them anymore with their obscene shipping charges. Do they really believe anyone is going to pay $32.95 plus $2.50 mandatory insurance to ground ship something the size and weight of a Nerf ball from CA to NJ? Will they ever learn? BTW, it cost me $11 to ship my gauge back for repair via Fedex! Last edited by njsteve; 03-29-2010 at 07:34 PM. |

There was a write up in the HPP June 2010 (current) mag in the Pontiac Tech section on this. Their source; www.autoinstruments.com
Might be worth a try if they hassle you on the warranty thing. SDD
