Exclamation It's all about determination!!!

Well Finally! found the donor car for my 69 TA TRIBUTE car. 10 minutes from my house, a fellow PY Member here alerted me of this car on Craigslist. THANKS PMDJIM!!! a big hug coming your way Follow my progress as this originally a 69 Carosel Red OHC 6 car becomes the dream TA Tribute I've dreamed about since I was 13 and first saw a real 69 TA. Here's a short Vid loading the car yesterday, at the end you can hear the flex plate issue. And here's a few pics. i'm gonna need a lot of advice with this one and contacts for the parts I need to make the 400 engine I have, a Ram Air engine. Mike and I will be building the motor, and most of the resto, including the WAAAAAAAAAT? Paint?? So any 69 TA owners here PLEASE help me with my Dream

Short Vid...

Typical rust for a Pa. car, looks good for a basic car for what you need. Was the car carousel red originally? I see it has a 12 bolt I wonder what gears it has in it.

Yes it was Carousel Red. Think it might have had a vinyl top at one time too. We are G owners so it's been around the block a few times. Would a 6cyl car have had that speedo originally? and I'm almost possitive this was not an HO car.

This should help. These numbers are from the Year One Catalog.

Break down of VIN info 1967 - 1971 Firebird

1st digit: GM line number: Pontiac = 2
2nd digit: Series Number: Firebird = 2
3rd digit: Model Engine Number:
3 = L6 (1967 - 1969 with standard interior)
4 = V8 (1967 - 1969 with standard interior)
5 = L6 (1967 - 1969 with Custom interior)
6 = V8 (1967 - 1969 with Custom interior)

4th and 5th digit: Body Type number
37 = Sport Coupe (1967 - 1969)
67 = Convertible (1967 - 1969)
87 = Sport Coupe (1970 - 1071)

6th digit: last digit of model year
7th digit: Letter indicating assembly plant
L = Van Nuys, Ca.
N Norwood, Ohio

The numbers are not broken down to indicate an HO car.

MA I believe only Camaros had 12 bolts 67-69, in 1970 Pontiac started using them in F bodies too. I may be wrong but I think the HP Firebirds from 70-72 had 12 bolts. If I'm wrong I'm sure someone will come up with the correct answer.

Oh no doubt it's most likely been changed, at first i thought it was a 10 bolt until I crawled my big fat butt under the car lol.

Then you should know that all '69 Firebirds came with a 160 MPH speedo.

Ahhhhhh No! lol my 69 Vert took 13 years to collect the parts, but back then a lot wasn't available. 2 years to actually complete it. I'll start collecting things I need, but I'm guessing 2 years to really start on it.

The 70 400 Formula and 70 TA had the 12 bolt, the others had a 10.

Nice find MA, with the quality of work you and Mike do, it will be amazing.
Did Chris send you a PY credit card yet?

Its a 68 or 69 Camaro multi leaf 12 bolt...a very expensive rear..especially if it has a good gear set....run the codes..i just sold a bare 69 12 bolt housing for 900 bux and the guy was glad to get it.....ive seen drum to drums with 3.55 posi bring 2 large ( thats 2 grand...2thousand bux...clams...well ya get the idea)..70 12 bolts are wider, and the pads are so far apart ya cant bolt it in the car...

But really..id leave it under there....its a a good start to a high performance build...
