Default Upgrading to TH 350

I've finally decided to change out the ST300 tranny in my 65 for a TH 350. Here is my checklist:

Tranny
Torque Convertor
New Dipstick
Shiftworks conversion kit

I like to have all my parts before I start a project. Anything else I'm going to need?

Just curious, why a TH350?

Yep, the kick down cable and bracket is the toughest part. I think Lokar makes a universal. When I made the same switch in my '66 years ago, I found a bracket and cable to use in the junkyard, can't remember from what.

Shiftworks conversion kit , you do not need , reuse your trans. linkage and bend the shifter stop at the end 1/4' back for the extra gear . Did the same conversion in my 65 15 years ago still works great . Save your money .

I made this change out about 15 years ago on my '64. replaced the trans about 3 years ago. In retrospect, I should have gone iwth the 200r4 the second time around

I'm not running a kick down on the car now (2x4 setup), is it something that I positively HAVE to have? If I want to have a 'passing gear', I can manually pull it down into 2nd gear.

I forgot to mention I have a column shift car, so I wanted the corrected lens with the D, 2, 1. I also got a 'kugel' kit from them that has an adjustable rod and shift arm that is supposed to put your pointer right on the numbers. I may not need it, but I'll have it just in case.

Anything else I'm missing?

Looking to get the TCI-743860. It claims it a universal dipstick for GM trannies.

Because it is supposedly a direct bolt in. No moving the crossmember, no changing the tranny yoke, etc.

Okay, now please answer this question:

What if a musclecar owner happens to be disabled and can no longer drive a manual shift car?

Me too, I only have one leg, so it's pretty tough for me to drive a 4-speed, not to mention dangerous and illegal. "Automatic Drive Only" is stamped right on my driver's license .

Put in a BOP TH350 in my '66...no mods needed. Same driveshaft.

Good answers, guys.

The only other alternative is the car gets parked and sits for 25+ years (which is what happened in my dad's case).

I'm leaning in that direction too, Andre.

After putting a TH400 in my Grand Prix, I'm hearing the 200R4 is a better fit - and - one more (overdrive) gear would be nice.

The 200r4 bolts up without an adapter, but the crossmember would have to move. I think by now they probably have an adapter so you don't have to move the cross member. (at leas I hope so, especially for a drop top) The better low gearing, and the overdrive at highway speed is the advantage.
The 200r4 isnt for big torque high hp engines, but would have been just fine behind my 325hp 64 GTO. I could be doing 70mph at 1900 rpm. :-(
