The M51's have a 5 and 9 with nothing stamped on the rim. I'll have to take some pic's next time I'm at Dan's.

I would say either May 9th of 71 0r 81. 71 would be a small center on a 15 rim I believe so my guess leans more toward 81.

Default HK Rally II's

Bob and HFR,

Thanks for the info. I bet they are 1980 & '81 wheels since they have the big center unlike the '70-'72's with the 14" wheel center. They were repainted when I got them, rather poorly I might add, so I need to blast them and paint them ala' 1973 colors. Thanks again for solving the mystery. I have the Honeycombs that originally came on the car from the factory, but always like to change the look from time to time. The honeys will be shod with F60-15 Firestone Wide Ovals for show and the Rally II's will have the Goodyear 255R-15 Gatorbacks (I won them as a prize back in the day) for cruizing. They will not have trim rings on them just the brushed center caps.

We need to add HK Rally II's to the wheel list. I imagine they came on Firebird's and Bonneville/Pariseans with teh 4.75" bolt circle. I'll check to see if they had the reverse paint colors like you mentioned HFR.

Thanks again, Dennis

Lucky you, assuming they're not dry rotted.

Try to find a set of 255x15 V-Rated tires today...

So my boss is a total gearhead like most of us and he's telling me about some cars he's owned over the years...and then he hits on this one;
Claims to have bought it from the dealer principal of a Pontiac Buick store in Montreal in '78 or '79 with 18k miles;

Brewster green over saddle SD 4-speed
no hood bird
honeycombs
dealer / owner had an ASC sunroof installed

sold it a year later...
Sound like a car that anyone here knows anything about?

Kieth,

They've been stored in my basement (cool and semi-dry) since 1991. I hope they don't dry rot in that environment. I'm sure if they were out in the elements they would be iffy by now.

Its all about storage with tires. I have a set of Gr70-15's and they look brand new however I wouldn't run them hard just due to concerns.

Giles, I had an idea until you mentioned that sunroof. That through's me for a loop

Brew - The rubber still seems as soft and supple as when new, but it never hurts to be too carefull. Any nibbles on the SD's yet. Saw your ad in Hemmings.

Wow!!!!!!!
That 4-speed sold for under sixty grand! Even though it had some issues I would have still figured taller grass then that.

Speaking of tall grass, you must have been out smoking some. Did you proofread your add in Hemmings? I think they got the price wrong. LOL

Good luck on that front brother Brew!

Default Who's all going to the TA Nats?

I'm planning on driving my Brewster Green road warrior if all goes well. I was inspired by TAkid driving his '74 SD TA last year. Since my car isn't restored, I'm not afraid to drive it. I'm only 320 miles away. So, who's going? I'd really like to put some faces to names and avatars.

I'll be there but you already know me from years and years ago. Prolly don't remember! I used to hang with Rick Swain and Ken Bernardi back in the early 80's when Rick was running the Green Firebird. Rode with you in the Red Judge from Scott's house to Mid Michigan one Saturday.

SDBob - I do remember that and that was quite awhile ago. Do you still see Rick and if so, is he still racing? I do remember seeing you at the Co-Vention under the tents at your car looking at the quickly darking sky just before the torrent unleashed. I was with Dan and we were zooming to look at all the cars before the storm opened up. I was only there for Saturday, and we spent most of our time indoors. Thank goodness for the nice display of cars inside. I hope to see you there.

I've always wanted to go to the TA Nats. I always seem to have something going on that weekend. Did I already miss the Cabelas Firebird show? Greg

The Cabelas show was cancelled due to the tornado that ripped through Dundee! Maybe next year! And yes, had it gone off you would have missed it as it was this past weekend on the 19th.
