Owosso, brings back memories. I had to make an un-scheduled pit stop there, back in 2002, on the return home from Maine. The engine in my '88 LeSabre started cutting out for no apparent reason on I-69. Had me scared, as I was a good 130 miles from home.

That ad was just placed Friday in the Flint area Craigslist. Those early 70's Catalinas were real highway cars. That one looks like a good one.

I had a hand in restoring a '61 rampside Corvair back in 1991. The owner of the body shop I worked for found it sitting derelict in a field, in Wyoming, and just had to have it.
Hauled it back to Michigan and had each one of his body men repair a different section of the truck, so no one would get frustrated. I got the engine running and worked on the chassis.

It was fun to drive around town in, but I wouldn't want to drive it on the highway.

It is referred to as a:

DartCharger kit car or a DartCharger, ordered with no DartCharger badges (It does have the Dart GT badges though – dealer’s choice).

This car is listed by Ulf Andersen of Sweden in the DartCharger registry.

These small block mopars are very fast and fun to drive and were one of the fastest stock cars off the line at the time, known to run the quarter in mid 16s and could do 0-60 mph in the low-nine-second range. These “D-Darts", as they were known, were intended competitive use in NHRA's D/Stock class. It has a 273 V8 4 BBL engine with a 4-barrel carburetor, 10.5:1 compression, a more aggressive camshaft with solid tappets, and other upgrades which increased output to 235 bhp (175 kW). Four speed transmission with stock Hurst shifter and original knob. Only have an educated guess at the rear axle, 8.75 – 2.93 or 3.55? Has light aluminum slotted 14” wheels.

Numbers match. It has the Charger air filter, alum valve covers, 10" drum brakes (Frt10x 2.25”, rear 10 x 1.75”), etc No AC. The original color was cream yellow, as all DartChargers were. It had been repainted, at one time to a black with a “gasoline-like iridescence” in the clear coat on top the paint and has the insignias of the Elks Lodge that raced it as a quarter mile stock drag car. Much of the work on it has been done by a former Chrysler Los Angeles assembly plant mechanic who assembled them in ’65! I chose to do conservation on it, rather than a restoration, because of the race history. The original hardtop was covered in black vinyl, as all DartCharger hardtops were, the vinyl is gone and the metal is painted with a low-quality white paint. Interior has been completely restored with the addition of pockets on the back side of the front seats as these cars had little storage and needed more. The interior is missing one seat rear button, I have the rotted original Masonite speaker plate for the rear that can be used for templating. All exterior trim is on car (with exception of LT rear wheel well trim which I have and is inc.) is there, red white and blue paint on emblems is faded off. Left front fender looks to have bodywork done on it. Body has dings and chips in multiple places but easy to fix stuff, the gauge of metal on the panels is nice and thick. Undercarriage is solid, only tiny amounts of surface rust, really remarkable. Interior floor has treated with Rustmort to neutralize light surface rust where needed and nice closed cell foam lines floor under new carpet and roof under new headliner. It has rust through on drivers rear fender, and I have the replacement stampings, and they are included with the car. Also included is a rt rear corner from a ’66, your call on how you like to do the bodywork.

That rearend is easily worth the price of the car. Is that a bush or grass growing up out of the engine compartment
