nice car Triad, would love to hear a little about the car

Well… it has a long story but to keep it short I bought the car a year after I got out of high school, which was in 1978. The car was repainted in 1980. A few months later I took it to a picnic, a few hours later I discovered that some little punk ass kid had wiped out the driver’s side by tossing driveway rock at it (bummer # 1).
In 1985 the car was stolen out of my garage ( bummer # 2) and was recovered three days later about 15 miles away. The car had been raped of its original VIN tag ( bummer # 3) so I was issued a new ID number by the state.
Fortunately the only things they took off the car besides the VIN was its original steering wheel and the back seat. After the theft, I became a bit discouraged with it and turned my passion elsewhere. The car remained parked in the garage only to be started up every so often. In 2007 I finally decided to bring it back out and at that time treated it to a new set of tires and wheels. I touched up most of the severe scratches and at this point I’m just driving it. It needs a repaint but that’s down the road a bit.

I sincerely apologize in advance to anyone I might have mentally depressed during the telling of this bird’s story.

Well, this is the 73 TA I bought from Mark L. here on the forum. Great guy. We came to an agreement in Jan, and in april the car made its way to DE from Arizona thanks to Frank Gostyla from Allpontiac. Really fun car. Its headed in a pro-touring direction with hopefully some roadracing action. Quick lowdown on what it is...

462 SR block that was in the car, 6x8 heads home ported by Mark, BMR alum rods, forged pistons, Victor intake 830 CSU blow through carb, Garrett 77mm turbo, intercooler, 5" exhaust down to twin 3", Hughes 400 trans and 3000 stall tight converter

-3.08 rear with S10 disc brakes. Had 3.73s, but turbos like LOAD, so the taller gears will be better.

-Hughes converter restalled from 4600 to 3000....tight. Again, turbos like load

-methanol injection system with boost switch at 40%

-Oil accumulator to back up oiling system under hard right turns

-March Performance Style Track Serpentine System

-Vintage Air heat/air/defrost

-1987 WS6 steering gearbox 2.5:1

-new burnt orange cut pile carpet w/insulation

-RSX leather race seats

-new door sills

-Kenwood stereo & speakers

-12 volt fan added to turbo oil cooler

-radiator dropped/tilted forward with intercooler

-glasstek early style tall TA hood scoop with piping reroute since pic

-Complete fiberglass front end purchased. Will tilt forward. Not going on for a while...when the body gets reworked and repainted

Here is my 1973 Formula 455. Last year when the Turbo 400 went out, I bought a Keisler package and converted it to a Tremec 5 speed. I am about to change the rear gears from 3.08 to 3.55.

bjohnsontx.........looks good. Black always looks sharp. I love the fender spoilers/air dam on the formulas, and yours would look sharp with them. I just went the other direction.....from 3.73's to 3.08.....lol

Could be the reflection of a red oxide tree.

Thats the reflection of a antique Mobil Pegasus sign hanging on the wall above it and the driver side sports the color from a buc red 74 sd car.

Did anyone notice the plastic front valance? Some have stated that early '72's didn't get the plastic valance, but as a 10D build, I'd say that's fairly unlikely.[/QUOTE]

My 72 was a late 71 production car and came with plastic valance..
