Default Rocker arm stud girdle

The question is the engine I'm working on has the stud girdle on it and the valve covers for this engine does not have the baffles in them , will the girdle act as a baffle to keep the oil out of the crankcase evac. system? Or do we need to find some covers that will have the baffles and clearthe girdles, it's gonna be tight, not really in to buying a pump for an evac not in the budget , thanx guys

It probably wont be a problem without the baffles.

At least I've never had a big problem without them.

If you do run into any problems, there are always methods to address those that wont bust the budget like a vacuum pump set-up might do.

One thing I try to do is to mount both the valvecovers so the breather/seperators are mounted towards the front of the engine,as oil collects mostly in the back of the heads under accelleration.

The only bummer about that is everyone asking why one of the MOROSO logos is upside down???

Also, try to make sure the EVAC hose is just slightly higher than the breather/seperator for just a bit as it exits those,as that makes it a bit harder for oil to climb outta the valve covers.

Worst case scenario, plumb the breather/seperators to a seperate sealed catch can,and that is then plumbed to the check valves in the headers, that should keep any oil from being pulled into the exhaust or such.

There is also a multitude of ways (with varying degrees of effectiveness) to baffle the current valve covers & breathers, without actaully changing out the valve covers themselves.

Nice cars tahx for the input just thought that maybe the girdles may serve as a baffle I know in the past i've always had the baffles so was not an issue but this motor has tha girdle so gonna need some taller covers and with the baffles they wont clear the girdles, thank you Bret.

I just had to remove a nice set of baffles in my tall valve covers when I bolted on the PRW girdles. I set the girdle as low as I could without getting in trouble with the rocker arm, and there's still just enough room for the breather to clear. It didn't draw any oil into the evac hoses during the little bit I ran the engine up during break-in, but I won't know until I get down the track with it.

Wheelspin uses clear plastic tubing instead of the black rubber and is able to immediately see if oil is getting up into the hose. I might give that a try - at least until I'm comfortable that things are good.
