Just got the premiere issue in the mail today to finish out what is left of my annual subscription to Pontiac Enthusiast, along with a letter explaining the change. Amos publishing has combined Car & Parts, Corvette Enthusiast, Musclecar Enthusiast, Pontiac Enthusiast, Mustang Enthusiast, Mopar Enthusiast and Chevy Enthusiast into this one magazine.

All I can say is...when my subscription runs out, I will not be renewing it. The type of paper and printing used is great, but the format is not easy on the eyes. With their bombarding the reader with full page advertising every few pages, intertwined within the articles, it reads like a Cosmo' or a GQ. Never mind the content, this is just the format.

Then there's the content...sorry but, Saleen Mustangs just do not interest me.

Thank you Amos for killing what was several great magazines and giving us this one polished turd. You just lost a customer.

Does this this new magazine the same page count as the retired titles? Or, have they increased the size a little? I subscribed to Pontiac Enthusiast (GTO Enthusiast) and Musclecar Enthusiast, both since day one. Sorry to see them go.

It's a thick magazine with over 217 pages.

One member said that Pontiac didnt rate its own section but was found in "classic cars" or something section.

That would be be sad, but you know PONTIACS just dont carry the demographics/numbers to get the respect, imo.

That's right...Corvette/Chevy gets a section, then Mopar, Mustang and Classics (pre-1972). There's an article on a modified '66 GTO in Classics, but it shares the section with a '65 Malibu convertible (which should be in the Chevy section in my opinion).

just got my issue out of the mail, not what i ordered. when my subscription runs out i will not be reordering either. they messed up a good thing pontiac enthusiast was something i looked forward too each month. as far as auto enthusiast goes in my book hemmings muscle machines,& muscle car review both are better.

The Mopar Enthusiast crowd is probably having kittens now too. On a positive note, it's all color, very little B&W in it...but, it's mostly about stuff I have no interest in reading about.

Classics section...pre-1972 only...which sucks.

Being the owner of a 73 Pontiac , and 67 & 77 Buicks ...... what exactly is in this "auto enthusiaist" for me ? I have Chevys, but they are everyday drivers . I dont own any Fords, I sold my Mopars when the prices for cars and parts got ridiculous. In the Chevy section Im not going to hold my breath waiting for the articles on 93 Pickups and the 04 malibu maxx. My dick is of normal size and it works just fine ..... so I dont really want or need a corvette.

What exactly does auto enthusiast do for me ?...........

I feel like Ive been ripped off , I subscribed to a magazine that interested me (Pontiac enthusiast) and am now getting a magazine that doesnt even WANT to feature what I own .

I am a Buick enthusiast

I am NOT an auto enthusiast. I like my brands ... I respect the others but Im not enthusiastic about them.


Needless to say when this subscription runs out , Im done.

I appreciate cool stories about all kinds of cars, but the format is very difficult to deal with. And no, I don't want to read about new corvettes. Looks like I'll have a couple extra bucks to spend on parts.

Got it yesterday. Didn't like it. Even that '66 GTO didn't look right. Anyone else think the front fender emblems too high? The nose didn't fit well, even the rear bumper didn't look right nor did the fit.

Dumb idea. They got rid of a decent PE mag and now it's that. I have zero interest in reading about chevy's or Mopars. I'll be letting my subscription run out.

Disgusted that there isn't a separate Pontiac section like there is for Mustang, Corvette/Chevy and Mopar, even though Pontiac Enthusiast was one of the combined mags. Magazine reads more like a glossy catalog. Doesn't hold a candle to Hemmings Muscle Machines.

Frankly, the last few issues of PE sucked anyway - I guess it just reflected the de-prioritization...

Heck...I received two.

I hate when mags send out those deals on subscriptions and your subscription is still good, so you then have two.

Havent looked at the first issue but reports dont sound good.

I have saved every issue of both HPP & PE since they were Thunder Am & GTO Enthusiast.

I'll be calling for a refund, I dont even want an other issue. Not worth the space
on my shelf or the paper its printed on.

I thought it was crappy thay did not do at least a farewell issue or round out one last month to make it
a full 12 issues, it was dropped on us pretty poorly......AFTER I resubscribed for a year!!!

I thought PE was getting kinda bad with errors & bad or stupid tech ideas,
(Hey! lets show the readers how to hack up a 76 Trans Am dash for A/C, WTF?!?!?!)
But at least the photos were Good to look at, this just plain sucks.

Editor Jason Scott was kinda cocky with his replys on correcting some pretty
big or misleading mistakes in the magazine.
I hope he has to work at Auto Zone or Pep Boys for the free '69 Firebird parts he needs
for his personal project car....How many 04-06 GTO exhaust stories can one mag
run anyway?

If I had wanted Hemmings Motor News I would go buy it, Auto Enthusiast is just a bad rip off of that.
This looks like the kind of magazine the local garage would have on the table in their waiting room,
something you read in 10 min......not something I'd collect
and save for future reference, or tech how to's.

Why do Chevy & Corvette need their own sections?!?!?!?

I just hope HPP stays on track, I'll be bummed if it starts to go to hell as well.
I'll keep my subscription to HPP I just hope they dont "transfer" me over to HOT ROD or something YEECH!

Just a heads up,
Amos Publishing WILL NOT refund any money if you decide to cancel.
a subscription, they will however allow you to switch to the other magazines
they offer such as toy collector ect, or use the money they owe you as a credit
for other auto items on their web site, The number I called was: 1-800-448-3611

The thing that I would be most upset about is how they forced this new "Auto Enthusiast" down your throat. Here's Amos Publishing's philosophy:

1) They could tell you Pontiac Enthusiast was going away months ago, allowing you to decide whether you want to subscribe to the new Auto Enthusiast Magazine, or get a refund on whatever you've already paid for. But that would cost them money....

2) They could have stopped sending renewal notices months ago, but then they wouldn't be able to screw you over when they switch magazines. In other words, they got your money...

3) You paid for a fairly expensive magazine in Pontiac Enthusiast, then they throw this Auto Enthusiast at you, NOW they give you the opportunity to get another magazine, but most of the other magazines are cheaper, and they don't interest you. In other words, they got your money....

Kudos to Amos Publishing, they raked in tons of money and pulled the old switcheroo on you guys. They're laughing all the way to the bank. Classic American business tactic.

By Amos Publishing's estimate, out of every 100 people that just received Auto Enthusiast instead of Pontiac Enthusiast:

50 people will have no idea what Auto Enthusiast is, they'll think it's a new magazine they got for free. After a couple months, they'll realize they didn't receive Pontiac Enthusiast, just shrug their shoulders, and forget about it.

25 people will be angry, but won't follow up with Amos Publishing. They'll be taken.

20 people will choose another magazine, which means Amos Publishing got your money anyway, so they win.

5 people will actually get pissed, and demand a refund.

So...as far as Amos Publishing is concerned, 5 out of 100 will be unhappy. They'll take those odds.
