I called APE to let them know their advertising money would be better spent elsewhere. PY wisely chose not to advertise in the premier issue of the new mag.
correction: although not in the index of advertisers, PY has an ad on p. 198.

Mike Noun,
Not exactly concerning people not knowing what they got when the magazine arrived. There was a sealed letter shipped with the magazine explaining the demise of the other magazines to formulate one new one.

I think it would have been nice if they did announced this to their subscribers about 3 months ago. The folks that don't frequent this site, or perhaps missed the thread about the rumors of PE going away, were probably pretty ticked off if they received the letter AFTER Pontiac Enthusiast was gone. I remember there was a really big push for Pontiac Enthusiast renewals about 3 or 4 months ago, and I knew a few people that signed up for 2 years because of the 'great rate'. Then they pull the old switcheroo....

Auto Enthusiast is a very poor mag. I subscribe to several auto magazines (HR, CC, HMM, and of course HPP), but this rag will turn into exactly that - a rag. (and like several here, I keep all my old magazines, so you know its pretty bad.)
Too bad I'm on the hook until May. |

I was disappointed in PE. Very little content and some rather dubious feature cars. HPP hasn't been much better, although I do remember a very good issue around August. Zero coverage of the GTO Nats in etiher rag. Pathetic.

I figured complaining about content "or lack of Pontiacs" would fall on deaf ears,
so I cashed out, I did not even want to see another issue if the premier one was that bad. I was very nice to the girl who answered the phone at Amos and told her I had no intrest in the content of the new Magazine. She allowed me to swap my remaining subscription for a credit which I used to purchase a Cars & Parts book on a 1963 Corvette restoration. https://www.amosadvantage.com/scotto...5Fno=&Tab=auto Wost case I have an interesting book to read, Instead of 6 months worth of Ads & New Mustang articles. If I dont like it I guess I can always eBay or Amazon the book for about $20 Corvette guys will buy anything with a Stingray on it! ![]() Take a look if you dont like what they offered in the new mag, swap it for a book or apparel, lisc plate ect. https://www.amosadvantage.com/scotto...Fno=&category= Scroll down to the bottom I found more books there. The pickings are a little slim. There is a few firebird & GTO Books and a few general Musscle car books, but I already had them. https://www.amosadvantage.com/scotto...tegory=pontiac https://www.amosadvantage.com/scotto...5Fno=&Tab=auto Check arround the site. The AA price is what you pay, they might agree to allow you to pay the difference if the book you want costs more than what they owe you. I got them to agree to knock off the shipping for my corvette book. I'd cash out now if your unhappy, by the looks of things I'd be afraid the new mag wont even last till the end of the remaining subscription. Might as well get your moneys worth out of them. ![]()

I had some time to kill this morning so I decided to quickly count up the number of pages devoted to advertising in the new Auto Enthusiast magazine. Would you believe 115 total pages of ad space? (73 full page ads, 43 half page ads, roughly 48 one-third page ads, and roughly 18 quarter page ads) Almost half of the magazine is advertising!
I like the idea of swapping my remaining subscription for a credit towards something else (thanks rack776). |

If any of you guys are AACA members, the bimonthly magazine they produce is a nice piece. Not a bunch of Pontiac coverage, but definitely a lot of different cars that I never even knew existed.
Frankly,I think the day of print is just about over. An online magazine with live content and a nominal subscription would be the way to go. With the way pocket computing is going, you could easily read it when travelling, relaxing etc. |

I spent alot of nights or sick days with car magazines, an iPad is not the same for me. I like my cars old, my music on vinyl, and my books on paper and I'm only 34 LOL!I had signed up for a model railroad magazine on line and its not the same as having it in print right in front of you, also alot of glitches/broken links.....I'm sure things will improve with online mags and your right, print will go away.
