Having a new engine built, anyone have any experiance with the Huricane manifold? I need to make a decission on it, a perfromer or the Torker II for my new 467 roller engine.

Cerrtianly cannot provide an opinion without some additional information about the entire package involved and it's intended use....... engine and drivetrain. Example, the differance between a Hurricane dual-plane intake compared to a Torker II single-plane intake is night and day.

My appoligies for the confustion, I had it on my mind the Hurricane was the "copy" of the Performer RPM intake. Got it confused with the Crosswind.

Given the above:
1) Qjet- I'd use a HSD or Tomahawk. 2) 4150 holley, I'd use a TII. |

I've had very good success with the T2 and 2" open spacer. Still very streetable.

Why not an rpm ? If it's on the street most of the time isn't a manifold that gets good power low in the rpm range a better option ? That T2 isn't supposed to kick in till like 2500rpms. He has an auto too. Won't that make it worse unless he has a fancy stall convertor ? Please explain why a T2 is a better choice than an rpm.

I run a Hurricane/Tomahawk.
455 280 cfm heads Old Faithful cam 950 hp with 1" open spacer Car is a 70 GTO with a TKO 600 and wieghs 4060 lbs with me in it. 3.73 gears Best et is 11.79 @ 116 mph |

Curious, and to add fodder for conversation, how about providing more info to help determine those numbers above. Cam type and specs ? And where do you expect the combo to make peak power rpm ? A friend built a 4.250 stroker with "cleaned" up 87cc Edelbrock heads, no port work, probably about 288 cfm or so at .600", RPM intake, 236 hyd flat tappet cam, Holley 750.... 570 ft.lbs torque and 508-518 hp. It made peak power at 5200/5300 rpm. Similar torque number but shy on the big hp numbers. My previous 462 with 87cc Edelbrock 313 cfm heads and a XE 254 solid roller and Torker II made 576 ft.lbs torque and 566 hp. With RPM intake the torque jumped to 589 ft.lbs. torque and 580 hp at 5800 rpm. Very important- what's missing with my personal 462 examples is how the two differant styles of intakes effected the TQ/HP curve. I'm a one finger typest

Ports on a torker II are smaller as SOP than the performer RPM.
Openings are 2.03" x 1.03" for the TII vs. 2.06" x 1.10" for the RPM. That trend goes most all the way up into the plenum as well,at least as far as I have checked in the past. So that kinda makes up some for the single vs. plane dual plane thing. Understand that on any kinda ported heads,if the torker II is'nt port matched to that size,the intakes openings are gonna be waaayyy smaller than the ports will probably be. I had to do quite a bit of port matching work to get my TII to match a fel-pro #1233 intake gasket. Heads are 250ish CFM #96's (RAIV port sizing). TII seems to be closer to the stock port size,and the RPM seems to be closer to the RAIV/H-O port size. With the right port work,I've seen a couple TII's surpass the RPM and rival a victor,but that amazing feat has always taken some additional heli-arc welding on/around the intake ports/openings,as they did'nt leave much extra material around the ports of that intake. I like the TII just fine myself. I like the tomahawk/hurricane too. I dont necessarily buy/discriminate based on country of origin. I leave that to others to decide for themselves. I like the RPM too. But the OP did'nt ask us about the RPM,so I did'nt feel it was "in the running" here,especially seeing as they have a harder time fitting under the hood of a second gen bird. Also,if I'm using a holley,I prefer the TII across the board. Now should Edelbrock ever "go the extra mile" and make us a dedicated square bore flanged RPM intake,then wow is all I would be able to say,and that would likely become my new "go to" intake for street performance based pontiacs. It would also be nice to see them make both the TII and the RPM in "skeletonized" version without the exhaust crossover provisions like those "other" intakes are made. FWIW Bret P. |

Having said that you obviusly have no idea how many chinees parts are in USA build cars from the factory.. thussend Buick have a car plant in China!!!!!!!!!umongst others....AS for the diferense in the RPM and the T II manifold . i learnd that the T II soften up the botom a bit so that you have more ""grip"" at the start and less wheel spin..
