My Borg Warner Super T-10 has become noisy when driving over 70 mph. I only have maybe 50k on it since it was rebuilt. Is it time to open it up, or maybe just change the gear oil?

Have you checked to see if it has oil in it?

Yes.....lol. Actually it was a bit low when I checked it. Might have run it too long low on oil.

See if it's noisy in neutral at idle. If the noise goes away when you push in the clutch, it's worn bearings. The bearings in manual gearboxes start to degrade from the moment they're put in service.....if run low on oil, their service life is shortened.

No noise at idle or any range or gear other than 70+. It actually may have quieted down - but it was very windy driving home from work last night and at 75 and t-tops, noise from small hole in floorboard (when foot is not over it ...lol) 2 flow masters.....etc.....it may have masked it.

I drove the car to church and back this morning and the tranny is nice and quiet. It took 100 miles of driving after topping off the fluid for it to get quiet. Thank you Lord.
