again, i am not trying to just bash this car, it is one of the nicest ones i have ever seen and it ran fantastic and pulled hard all the way up to 6500 rpm in first thru third gear and i would shut it down at around five grand in fourth gear. no idea how fast i was going because the speedo was never hooked up. too bad he turned out to be a gay child molester, when i first met him, he was actually a pretty cool guy to hang out with and talk cars. and he loved to beat the living daylights out of them no matter how nice they were. i just wish someone would have listened to me back then it would have probably saved alot of ruined lives of innocent little boys. worse yet was why he was fired from the muskogee police force and the cover up behind it. in my opinion that police chief should be in prison also. steved can tell that story, he knew all the details behind it. |

"How do the numbers fall out? 54 built, approximately half are known to exist including 8 of the 9 automatics. So out of 27 (approx) cars, 19 4spds, maybe half of which are running/driving cars and maybe half again that are numbers matching? Does anybody (Matt?) know the actual numbers?
I don't think this car still sits at the top of what is a very small heap. JMHO" ===== Good question/point Boss. I'm not sure we know for certain. This is what I am aware of... My IV TA has its matching drivetrain and I believe roundportponcho's IV is matching as well. Both are fully restored. I believe Garys D's and Rob L's examples are matching too. I also know of another in the NE that is matching. All 5 of these 69 RA IV TAs are 4speeds. I also know of 10 other 69 RA IV TA's scattered about (ie 15 in all). A few are autos and the rest are 4speeds. Each of these 10 have either SR blocks or some other replacement motor. To my knowledge, I am only aware of two fully restored matching numbers 69 RA IV TA 4speeds. And before the Pontiac/PY police flips out.... I am -sure- a few other matching numbers, restored 4speed examples -out of the ~35 4speeds not specifically accounted for above- exist (and may even be identified later here in this thread). I'm just listing what I know. In any case, Bosssman is right. The list is a very short one especially when it comes to matching numbers examples that still exist... You only have 1 IV of all those in your stall? Or are we just talking running?
Bash Dave day.... He was either OHP or MPD, not sure which. Working PR maybe at Hilldale HS; story goes he was caught with an under age boy and a deal was cut with the mom to keep it quite for a pay off and he left the force sometime near 1980. I don't know if it was true or not; but he did find himself out of law enforcement at that time period. |

Maybe the owner will get on here and explain why he doesn't drive it! ![]() There is also supposed to be one in the NYC area, although the owner has spoken of it, I'm not sure anybody has ever laid eyes on it - I don't recall what the condition of it is.

Sorry Gary, my bad, I thought yours still had its original block. PM me with the EUN and/or VIN and I'll keep my eyes out for you should a WH pop up anywhere near me...
PS K.S.'s freshly restored IV...This was Legacie's old ride with an SR block, no? Last edited by ramair2; 12-15-2010 at 09:27 PM. |
