OMT,
I was thrilled to see the 109.75 mph. I usually ran 105-106, but on this run, there was a tailwind and everything else was "just right." With 7" M&H slicks and the 3.90 gears & wide ratio, it got off the line really good and ran 5500 rpm through the traps. In 1965, my '64 had three-tube Doug's headers and a '61 big Pontiac Tripower (flat manifold). As part of the sponsorship, the dealer put the headers on and installed the 068 cam. I pulled the heads and milled them .035" and installed Isky Polylocks. Since this was my only car, I usually washed off the Phil Tolkan lettering on Sunday nights so I could drive the car to work Monday morning without too much police attention. I re-applied poster paint Saturday.

This 64 GTO was bought by a buddy of mine back in 1984 for $250.00. It was an elderly couple who owned the car since 1965. The car mechanically was perfect but every part of the body had its share of dents.

One day I'll get around to starting a thread on this car in the 67-9 Firebird section.

Maybe...some details are a bit vague, but the car was purchased off Jerry's son Rick sometime shortly after his fathers death apparently.
The car is still around too! |

I just bought a quasi-survivor judge... quasi not because its not original, but because there's a question as to whether it survived! - Anyway, see the survivor judge thread in the judge forum for more details..
Here are some pics I received from the seller of the car when it was newer.

Thanks. It was a crushed velvet jacket, with the pink ruffled shirt and a black cummerbund. I'm not gonna lie to you...I was a pretty big deal that night!
