Just to help you understand something Champ, I am not a Diesel Engineer.
I said "I liked the 6.7L engine", period. That is my right as an American, to express whether I like a product or not. You, apparently do not like Ford vehicles, so be it.

I also said that a gentleman named Harold was the Diesel expert. In every case I provided you, and the board, with factual information.

Now you imply that I lie constantly on this board. You posted that on this board.
We will let the lawyers hash this one out unless you refrain from additional comments of that nature. No threat, a promise.

The lobby is a place where accomplishments can be posted. I posted about our 3.5L Eco-boost engine, as I am very proud of being part of the team that designed that engine. You seem to not be able to understand "that is allowed" in the lobby.

I am not asking for your apology, I am stating leave me and my posts alone, especially the comments about me lying to the board.

I read Ford is going to possibly thow the turboed 3.5 in the F series; it's amazing the power these new engines are now making.

Our store just got our first Ecoboost trucks in this week. I have one in my driveway. All I can say so far is WOW. It is kinda like driving a 4x4 Grand National....LOL. I want to in the worst way get my trailer out of storage and pull it to see what it is like but so far so good.

ford needs to make their vehicles reliable...period. with proper maintenence most vehicles i have owned hit 200,000 plus miles with zero repairs...EXEPT the fords.
i dont much care for dodge but have 190,000 on my durango and have never repaired it.
my dad got 300,000 plus on his dodge wagon before he sold it to someone else who still drives it.
my f250 4wd was junk, constantly broke down. call the tow truck you'll never nurse it home. no such thing as a roadside repair on a ford.

my best friends mustang...junk always in the shop.
i dont know why people buy fords.

i'm no pro mechanic, or engineer, and i respect the abilities and knowledge of the others on the board...i'm just an average citizen who has had all american brands and think fords are the worst in terms of reliability...and this is just my opinion.

150,000 big deal My 350 in my GMC has 205K, my S10 Blazer has 225K, and the 454block in my trans am went 280K before the suburban it came out of got totaled.
strength and duribility ok how bout that junker V10 Ferd shoulda kept the 460.
As far as the claims of we out sell all other brands ok if you look at a nameplate (Ford,Chevy,GMC,Dodge). When in reality if you count by manufacturer (GM,Ford,Dodge) the real truck sales leader comes out. But atleast the Ferd has a SISSY Bar integrated into the tailgate so you dont have to hike your skirt up to step into the bed

Ive seen several Ford 300 inliners do 500K miles

yeah...well as i stated its just my opinion.

my flathead 52 f1 pickup ran fair, as good as could be expected and i just sold it last year but not running, but these were built when american made meant something.

i LOVE the old mustangs and especially the early cougars, owned many just never had any luck w/ them.

sore subject...i lost alot of money towing and repairing my fords. i was a dedicated ford guy once...

i cant believe how reliable my GTO is.
we're all car guys tho...

Even in the late 70s early 80s, the Chebby Trucks were having frame durability issues. We would test out frames on the durability course, cobblestones, ditches, etc hour after hour.

The chevy guys knew we were testing their stuff, (trucks) so when we would break their frame we would call them up and they would send over another frame. We would swap over the parts from the broken frame and keep running. GM liked this deal as they got free durability data for the price of a frame and shipping. We swapped the frame on one vehicle 3 times vs our vehicle completing the testing on the original frame.

That deal was something that I always remembered.

If you were buying a "Burger Wopper" truck to haul a sheet of plywood, or carry some bicycles, furniture, etc, go for the chebby truck.

If you doing commercial truck work, buy the Ford truck.

I will take this one step further. My dad has never owned a Ford in his life, always GM, Chevy trucks. He just sold his 2003 Chevy 2500 and is ordering a new F150 with the ecoboost motor. He is replacing 2 vehicles with this one. The truck he just sold and his everyday car as this new motor gets closer to car mpg and will pull my 24 ft. enclosed car trailer with no problem.

A new Ford Towing around my Pontiacs! Works for me.

I did the first design work on the F-150 truck with Turbos about 6 years ago. The direction from Management was "see if it is possible".

My Research & Advanced Engineering organization then did "Press Drives" with magazine writers to see what they thought of the concept. All were very impressed. All were sworn to secrecy, and they kept the secret.

At that point, Management had to decide if we were going to actually go into production with the truck/ ECO-BOOST technology, but it wasn't called that in the early days.

Some of my Management did "Executive Drives" with the people who could authorize the program. The team grew from there and I stepped aside except in a consulting role.

Lots and Lots of people in Ford made ECO_BOOST happen. I was one of the cogs in the machine. Glad you like your truck and am sure your Dad will also like his truck.

Tom, this is off topic but do you know Jim Farley? He's a marketing VP at Ford, and it turns out he's a hot rodder. The latest issue of Rodder's Journal has a nice article about his traditional style '34 three window coupe. It has a supercharged flathead in it.

It's good to see an upper management person who's also a real car guy.
