SD421,
Check out the link http://www.hurstracingtires.com/ it has all of the info for each tire. I'm running 4 1/2" rims on front and 7"s rear with an 8 1/2" tread. I know they are narrow. My friend Nck Anderson with the 62 Tempest gave me the Americans and with the offset they have it's the widest tire I could put under the body. Maybe I'll go wider later down the road but for now, that's it.

SD,
Yes on the tire size size and 15" on the rims. Only dif is that my tires have the 2 grooves cut in the tread. The axle kit from speedway motors is the set up with the chevy spindles. You can order 4 1/2" or 4 3/4" bolt pattern

The weather is beautiful which helps in the motivation department so I spent a little time working on the dash layout. I'll cut the holes tomorrow

I tried a few layouts and like this one the best. You can see the outlines of the other holes where I was moving the gauges around.

Hi Skip, yes hole saw in the drill press. The speedometer I'm going to have to jigsaw and clean up with the 1/4" grinder.
Steve, Carbs on this one since she's going to be street strip. Ultimately, I'd like to put a couple of classic Holley 850's on. I have 2 Demon 850's which just aren't right for the look I want, but will probably use them to get her going. My other thought was to use a couple of Carter/Edelbrock which would be period correct in the looks department but a little less on performance and quite a bit less on cost. I know you can buy used carbs cheap but I have never had good luck with a used carb let alone 2 on the same engine. Almost $1,000 for the 2 holley 850 double pumpers, and about $600.00 for the 2 Edelbrocks.

I couldn't find a 2 1/16" hole saw so I just used a 2" and gave a quick reem with the 1/4 grinder

I decided to go with the Stewart Warner classic gauges to keep with the period 60's look. I also chose to set the dash face out at the first ridge rather than setting it further back in the dash where the original gauses were. I moved it back and forth and just liked the closer, more straight up look, rather than leaning back deeper in the dash.

Worked on the steering column yesterday. Took off the shift indicator, cut off the shifter and gear indicator, ground down the leftovers, filled with plastic, primed and painted. Now it looks like a 4 speed column.

A nibbler makes a neat cut in sheet stock.. The one I've got (air tool) handles up to 16ga steel.

The speedo and tach holes are 4 5/8 so probably not a punch for those. 2" will get the other gauge holes and 0.5 for the turn signals. I have a hand nibbler that didn't do too much.
