I need to stab a jack under the rear and see if it has posi. The car does need a couple of things such as... upper control arm bushings, a set of shocks, valve cover gaskets and a detail.

What a nice car! Very clean and original. Most '69 SJ's had posi, it was mandatory with the 428 engine at some point during the production year.

I see these options as well...

Remote mirror
Auto Temp Control
Power (vacuum) door locks

I'll guess that it has a power trunk release too? I see that it has the 400 type (small snorkel) air cleaner and black lid... I wonder if that's been on the car since new?

Good eye on the auto temp... I forgot about that one.

We took the '67 there last year and had a great time.... Doesn't look like we're gonna make it this year though.

Went to take the '69 for a little drive today and it didn't even make it out of the garage LOL... It fired up and went to high idle like its supposed to.... I let it run for a couple of minutes and kicked it down and about 30 seconds later it died... like it ran out of fuel... tried to restart with no luck ... threw a couple of gallons in the tank tried to restart with no luck.... popped the hood to prime the carb... and noticed something leaking.... and its coolant!!!! I expected it to be fuel because its coming from around the fuel pump.... Sooo I shut the hood and jumped in the GTO and did what I had to do.... I should be down there investigating instead of sitting here typing this.... I need to get off my lazy ass mow the lawn and fix my car LOL...

That's really strange? Cant imagine what would be leaking near the fuel pump other than a coolant passage inside the timing cover. I wonder if the timing chain let go and did something? Pull the dist cap and check for rotation while cranking.

That sounds good.

Yesterday I had the hood up nosing around... and it doesn't look like the timing has ever been off. I know the timing chains usually let go around 100-120k... and this thing has got 130k on it. I got my lawn mowed... but haven't had a chance to take a closer look at the car yet.

At 130K I cant imagine the original plastic tooth cam gear would have lasted that long, but its possible. My brother's '70 400 went over 90K before it let go.

It ran out of gas... I guess the gas gauge isn't real accurate as it was reading an 1/8th of a tank. Its not leaking coolant at this time but does have an original heater hose that I'm gonna raplace.

That's funny, my '69 and '70 both run out around 1/8 tank, found this out the hard way.

LOL... Well, that's a good reason it quit running! Maybe after a couple of fill-ups and $200 later it will straighten itself out.

After I put some gas in it ... I took it for a good highway run and its gonna need to have the radiator recored... It tachs 3 grand at 75.... so I'm guessing 3.23's.

Neat car. I like it a lot. Very similiar to my SJ 370/auto but I have green vinyl.

I just spent a few bucks on exhaust, cooling, motor mounts, trans rebuild and gas sender, plus a few other things. (My pesky front main leak as actually FUEL PUMP coming loose...go figure) Just got the car out yesterday now that the roads are clear of salt and the usual dirt of winter. Last thing to fix is the hi idle not coming off quick enough.

3.23 very common on SJ. Just change the ac pulley bearing or take the belt off before a lot of highway running. We never seem to need ac very much in the mountains, guess that depends on how much you plan to use it. I finally got the tools to change the compressor bearing out, did one, fun task.

You may have to spend about $3k on it for all the stupid little stuff to get it reliable. My only suggestion is to replace just the rear springs. Will give it a real nice rake but may drag exhaust.

My 68 GTO does the same thing, the 69 G/P hasn't yet but I try not to run it that low......
