I just finished up on the 4 speed car and delivered it this week. When I dropped it off he wanted his 24k mile 403 car checked over. It has storage issues that need to be fixed...but man what a nice car. It does have one repaint but thats all I see.

The headliner is NOT sagging and it even has the factory plastic over the original shag carpet. Check out the pics....it even drives tight.

Just have to paint the back of the guage and other reflective green areas fluorescent red.

This works with all the guages. They all use clear bulbs, just have the red fluorescent paint instead of green.

Radio dial and heater controls get a little bit more complicated, but are doable.

Most any hardware store will have fluorescent paint in spray cans. I've sprayed it into the cap and used a artist brush to do the back of the guage face. Big parts I strip (take apart) and spray, like the inside of the cluster housing itself.

As long as things are clean you can paint right over the green.

I need to get my TATA steering wheel recovered. Can anyone recomend a good source. I know they are offering a repo but $500 is a bit too much. I am sure I could get mine recovered cheaper than that.

There is a company that specializes in just those. Hopefully, some one whose used them will post with their experience and quality. I can't even remember their name right now.

Thanks but I don't need it anymore. I went to another forum and got the info I needed in minutes! The wheel is on it's way to being restored.

Did Pontiac ever issue any bulletins or sales literature specifically for the Tenth Anniv Trans Am?

Default Excellent Job

Got my wheel back today and the results are excellent. The whole experience was quick and easy.

Notice the big tear in the before photo. I had photos of it off the car but must have deleted them. The after photos are shown in two different lights.

Default Old 8mm TATA film

Hello TATAs!

Back in the day, I owned two (2) brand spanking new 10th Anniversary Trans-Ams (TATA was not a term used in 1979, at least not referring to a car), both with 4-speeds. If I recall correctly, they were $10,700 each (plus tax). I bought them because they were tough to find and I was going to flip them and make a few bucks. For the one in the 8mm film below, I asked the dealer to leave the plastic on the seats & steering wheel - that's the way they came to the dealer. It was a bit difficult driving home with the plastic on, but I wanted it to look like brand new for the next guy. It had 16 miles on the odometer when I sold it! I think I made about $1000 on this one and less than $500 on the one I drove which had less than a 1000 miles on it when I sold it. For the film, I did change out the stick shift knob as I thought the Hurst one looked a lot better - that's what we did in the day.

Enjoy the film, I apologize in advance for the poor cinematography - remember, I have no professional film training and it's 8mm film, no way to play it back to edit - had to take it to the drug store and wait a couple of weeks for it to get developed, no one-hour photo in those days! Also, I look through a viewfinder, not the actual lens so WYSIWYG ain't so. And, the auto-focus left a little to be desired.

Thanks, that was good!
One detail I noticed was that the rear of the shaker was painted black, except for the center strip.

I bet you wished you had waited 20 years before flipping?

Cool video.

You don't happen to still have this do you? I've got one to replace mine but if I remember right there was something specific to the TATA antenna wasn't there?

I'm also looking for a few NOS parts for my TATA - Deluxe Dome light lense cover, Hood release bracket, speedo cable, if anyone can help that would be great
