What are the numbers stamped on the block below the passenger side cylinder head?

Scroll down about halfway down. The engine code locations are there. To properly identify your engine, you will need the 2 letter code off the front and the date code on the back of the block near the distributor hole.

YB is a 350. 500810 also confirms that it is a 350.

That is a strange one.

I'd say it's a 1977 350, by the date code, anyway. (Oct 20, 1977)
The 500810 block casting was a late 76 block casting for 350.
Probably ran into 1977 also.

Why it has a 75 by the distributor, I don't know.

Does it have only 3 engine mount holes on side of block?

Look on the front of the block, passenger side closer to the timing cover area, down low.
Should be a partial VIN - looks like this probably:
27N1xxxxx

Tell us what that says.

Actually, you may have mis-read the date code, probably J205?

It will still be a 350 engine though.

The 77 YB would have come in a GP or LeMans.

The 75 TB would have been in a Firebird, 2bbl though.

The 112517 is the Engine Unit Number (or Motor Unit Number)
The YB is the engine code (needed for my search page)
The 26n522430 makes it a 1976 Pontiac Firebird.
(the 522430 is the last 6 digits of the VIN of the Firebird the engine came from)

That makes the date code J205, which was probably mis-read as I said.

So the block was cast on Oct 20, 1975 for the 1976 Model year.

Still a 350 unfortunately.

With that partial VIN (26n522430) you could send it to PHS and find out what the car was originally optioned with. (for a fee though)
