Aside from the man operating it being quite grumpy, it was free and it was cool! I think he was a bit annoyed with me as I thought it was the coolest thing ever and he was acting like I was stupid for thinking it was so unusual. Sorry, but I have never seen anything like it and I thought it was cool!

Attachment 249082Attached is the picture of my 66 Lemans that I purchased in July 2010. This car is a factory 326 w/4 speed. There were a lot of things that were missing or were messed up. With the help of many PY'ers I was able to finally get this car back on the road. It was setting in a barn for 15 years, someone did some work on it and then it set in another barn/garage for 3 years. The previous owner added some GTO badging and rocker trim. Since it was changed I think I'll complete the change to clone it. I've replaced the grill but the tail panel will have to wait until I get the taillights and tail panel.

1966 GTO:
Other than minor mechanical repairs/ upgrades and paint touch -up on the engine, This car is an unrestored original including the Nightwatch blue paint.
389 4bbl 4-speed 3:55 posi 53,000 actual mi.

1967 Tempest:
Purchased from an estate sale this was a bone stock 20,000 mi. car that still wore the factory belted tires. After the addition of ralley wheels and basic mechanical upgrades the car now has 34,000 mi. This is an unrestored car including the paint.
230 ci. 1 bbl, OHC 6, 2-speed auto trans, Manual EVERYTHING else.

71 GTO Judge:
Cloned from a 1972 Lemans but with a few fun goodies:
30 over 428 ci., Edelbrock carb/intake, Ram Air 3 manifolds, crossover exhaust, 3:23 Posi, turbo 400 auto, big sway bars.

Yeah but this is a gorgeous photo of Kirk's 66 GTO.....

I can't believe it's unrestored. It just blows me away that it looks so good. Hat's off to ya Kirk for the shape it's in.

Sure would be a great calender photo.

Was just out in the trunk of the Tempest taking pics for "67Droptop"s trunk spatter paint post on this forum...sat back down in front of the computer.. Wow! a bunch of positive responses to my Pontiacs. Thanks Guys! Jeff, It's good to see Cammers are not strangers here. I just signed on to PY today but it looks like a good home.

You need to make a poster of this car in these settings and sell them at old country stores. Absolutley beautiful.

I just noticed you post, thank you for the kind comments! We truly love our LeMans and we are truly honored to own this car! I have a very high end photo printer that can print 13"x19" poster size photos. I love printing in gray scale and or black & white. I'm hoping some of these pics I have taken, printed and matted will be something I can leave behind for my kids. Trying to do as many as I can while I still have some vision left in the one eye...

I love this thread, I feel truely humbled to add my car to this pantheon of awesome Pontiacs. None the less, here it is. From left to right: 1.)1966 Tempest Custom in my driveway shortly after I picked it up. 2.)Under dash console I made out of white oak cabinet paneling. 3.)fully rebuilt and installed OHC6 230 4.)dual exhaust for a straight 6???? 5.) My 66 and my wife's 1972 LeMans Convertible that is being restored as we speak.

Very nice Tempest and LeMans Murph. Photo of them on the carhauler brings back memories of my car haul days for new Pontiacs out of Canada.

You guys have some amazing cars here. I wish I could compete with some of them. One day perhaps, just not yet. Better yet, I wish we could all gather in one parking lot or drive in for a weekend of fellowship.

One thing I love about my car is when I take it to get some work done on it, or ask advice, is the genuine interest in the car. The compliments are nice, but it is the way some of these guys approach it, as though they are appreciative that I let them work on it.

I love to show it, not to garner the comments, though I do smile very deeply when I see the looks on the faces of people when they see that OHC6... but it is the older people I down right adore. You can spot them every time as they will walk up to the car and touch it lightly and they get that far far away look in their eyes and the comments are almost all alike. "I dated my husband in this car" or "My parents had one of these and I loved that car" and "I used to have one of these, man I wish I still did"

Its a shame that we have been added to the list of automotive orphans, but on the other hand, it is an honor to keep these on the road now as we are in esteemed company.
