springmist green
Was springmist green a rare color on a 68? I don't know if I have ever seen it in person, but pictures of it are growing on me. Does anyone know of color production numbers?

I don't believe that numbers exist but I think it was a pretty common color

I had a springmist green GTO from 1970-1973. It was a great color and there weren't that many around back then. My guess would be around 5% or so would have been springmist green, at least in my area.

So - were both Springmist Green and a more regular appearing Silver offered in '68?

Mine was Primavera Beige with a black interior from the factory. I was planning on painting it kandy brandywine, but the springmist is growing on me, I would like to see one in person before I make my final decision.

Springmist Green is a really neat color. It's not a FLashy, in your face color, but a very rich color and is understated. Almost silver, but with an undertone of seafoam.

My 68 Bird Vert was springmist green originally. Great color from the areas I've seen where it wasn't sprayed blue.

This is a really old thread, but it was of interest to me. My first new car was a 68 LeMans, Springmist Green over Nightshade Green with parchment interior and 3 speed Hurst with console. I once came out of a store and there was one identical to mine sitting next to it. My cousin, in a town 15 miles away had the identical color combination on her 68 GTO.

 This isn't a very good shot. I have some others that I haven't loaded yet. I really liked that color combination. |

Here's one after I added the Tiger Paws back in the day.
68 LeMans Springmist over Nightshade. I use to like to ask people what color the car was. I would often get, "Gray and Silver".

When I was 18 (1979 for you math wizards) I bought my first 68 GTO from a neighbor.
I don't have any photos or documentation for that car. I always remembered that car as being silver.....but now realize it must have been Springmist Green. It looked great with the black interior. Sadly, the car was totaled shortly after I sold it. |

My first GTO was a well optioned '68 and it was Springmist Green. This was in 1979 and I always thought it looked silver. The paint was beat but after a good buffing it turned out to be a very good looking car, Springmist complimented the black vinyl roof and black interior nicely. Never seen another in that color. Of course as soon as I could afford it I had the car painted Carousel Red, because I really wanted a Judge. Instant regret! I sold the car in '80 and it went from Allentown, PA to Maryland in '88 or '89. I often wonder if it was ever restored to its original color, or if it has even survived.
