These will bring back some memories.
Remember when this crazy wild looking thing popped up on eBay about 4 years ago ?

We couldn't make heads or tails out of it, and seriously doubted most of its description / condition. And 150K reserve looking like it just rolled out of a circus tent.
Most unique hood tach i've ever seen.

I believe most or all was true now.
Then its wound up being a WT7 car too.

Car had all the seat belts removed when I purchased it ,this photo is from when I first got the car, It only had front raceing harnesses installed driver and passenger. And it does have the original front shoulder harnesses up on the headliner, I purchased this full set of seat belts I have on Ebay, considered Deluxe ? I think? and found that the existing shoulder belt has a bigger clasp that wont fit into the ones I bought, So the questions of the day are, 1) are these deluxe belts I bought with the small chrome buckles? 2) are the deluxe buckles the black plastic ones, which have a bigger clasp, and thats what I should have bought? 3) would the chrome buckles have had a different clasp seat belt that would only fit the shoulder strap? 4) As it implyes on the build sheet ( rear shoulder Harness) would the car have had retractors on the rear package tray where these imprints are in the photos,.? The car has a substantial factory pair of bolt holes up there that look like seatbelt bolts. I have owned, looked at cars all my life and have never seen this on a car like this, Thanks for looking and if I can rack your brains on this one for a while I'll give you guys a brake! And thanks for posting my question,,, I didnt mean to step on your feet, Just wanted to put out all the info.

If you combine the difficulty of reading the complex build sheets with the kind of people I have worked with over the years, Its no wonder all these cars didnt leave the plant looking like they came out of a circus tent!!!

The rear end treatment wasn't quite the best feature overall.

Yeh Man.
Practically would never know it now, to look at it though.

1BD is the one that bought it after it was listed on eBay. '07 i think.
It only had like 17,000 miles on it then.
And still under 20,000 miles now.

Was a fair weather driver in beginning - then went to being weekend warrior.
Or, Warrior on the Edge of Time.

Previously a 2 owner car. With second owner doing nothing but sitting on it and keeping it preserved for about 30 years.

I think the original owner was sort of going after something to look along the lines of the 1970 Tin Indian Judge race car style. At least this one was much better well kept and better preserved than the Tin Indian was.

It sorta reminded me a lot of the modified Gold 71 Judge that was painted Blue, that Telly's brother owned (allmycarsjunk). Not sure what happened to that one or who has it now.
He also owned the Black/White Auto 71 Judge that had been modded a bit (allmycarsjunk). And still has a 71 White/Blue 4spd Judge.

No accounting for others past taste back then.
But its left us with a well preserved low mile 71 WT7 Judge example for today.
And thats good news.

The gold 71 Judge painted blue went down south a couple years ago . Had a color change but was all there . The white on blue 4 speed is still here .

1BD , I don't know what to say about your seatbelt option and be 100% right about it.
Maybe Ransom's papers tell more about 451 / 452 / 454 option specifics and prices.

I just have prices for 451 Custom Front Shoulder $15.80 and 452 Custom Frt Rear Shoulder $42.13. Which is a pretty big jump if its for just the additional rear lap belts only.

I do know standard issue belts got you front lap belts, front shoulder belts, and rear lap belts, all with plastic colored buckles.

BJ , do you have chrome buckles up front and plastic in the rear - with your 451 option belts ?

Mine are all chrome buckles front and rear. It is interesting - the front lap belts have the smaller buckles, but the rear lap belts and the front shoulder harness all have the larger chrome buckles.

I copied this over from my last post on the 71 Build Sheet thread - any ideas/input on the Asterisks and the hood pins?

BVZ - my car has *A39 DLX SEAT BELT on build sheet and Code 451 BELTS-CUSTOM on PHS invoice. Mine are the smaller chrome/silver colored buckles and I have the shoulder harness with the spade type connector and a second strap/buckle to connect those to. Never use that one - just the lap belt. I don't have any good photos of just the belts. I can take some and post if anyone wants to see them.

Question: What is the meaning of the Aterisk in front of the RPO code on my build sheet. Not all of them have it..

Here is another question:
On the ebay WT7 Judge, I notice it has hood pins. I was looking in my 71 Brochure, "Pure Pontiac!" that has the GP/GTO/Formy on the cover and on the page that shows the Judge in the garage next to the speed boat, there is a Judge 'vert sitting outside the garage and it, too, has hood pins. Were hood pins an option on the GTO/Judge? I know they were standard on the T/GT 37 series right?

BJ, no clue about the asterisks.
Most all are standard items, except the belts and rear speaker.
Have a couple 1970 Cali Buildsheets that have about same things asterisked as your 1971 Cali Buildsheet. Here is 1 example.

Seems like the hood pins were dealer installation available / over counter available in 1970 - maybe same deal in 1971. And lots of aftermarket suppliers for them.

Ransom might have more/better info on the Pins in 1971.
I don't have anything for sales, orders or options accessories datas
But maybe the literature that shows all 1971 option dispercement totals will mention the hood pins ? Like the way it shows 15 of WT7 on GTO/Judge = 4%.

Seatbelt deal is getting tough.
Need more info and more known examples.

451 - Custom SB FRT SH
452 - Custom SB FRT RR SH
454 - Custom SB FRT RR

Makes it read like what BJ has would be more along line of option 454.
BJ - maybe check all your date tags on retractor straps and belts straps for uniformity ?

I've never seen a car with deluxe front - rear standard buckles anyway.
But it reads like its possible ? crazy

1BD - might want to check all the date tags on what you bought too.

Until another good clean car can be found with option 452 on belts, probably no way to know for certain about the rear shoulder belts. Or whether it would be a retractor up there on shelf - or if shelf was just an anchor point and the retractor was on floor / between seat cushions.

The hood pins would have been dealer installed or purchased over-the-counter. Should be only factory installed on GT-37's.

The asterisk (*) indicated a standard (No charge, I believe) option for that particular grouping or model.

451 AK1 Custom Seat Belts and Front Shoulder belts
452 AK2 Custom Seat Belts with Front and Rear Shoulder Belts.
454 A39 Custom Seat Belts
Shoulder belts were black only. 1971 Fisher Body Manual has a basic picture on page 14-87.

Back on the stripe package / call-out decal codes:

This is Dr-Dougs 71 Silver Judge - the one we have the buildsheet for (one thats rusted down the middle). Still wearing whats left of factory paint/stripes/decals/call-outs.

Stripe package = E (blue) ..... CHECK
Decal call-outs = A (black) ..... CHECK

Theory is pretty much fact. And 3 for 3 so far.
Still would like more buildsheet examples though.
These codes should be very instrumental in folks proper restorations.

Doug's Judge has now been frame-off restored by him.
Haven't heard from him in a while though.
