I only eat @ a couple of "trusted" BK locations, and as such I wont eat @ any location that I'm not familiar with. And yeah, some BK locations are indeed horrible, very inconsistent quality wise. So absolutely no BK when on road trips or such... Not worth risking it. IMO the quality @ BK mostly went downhill when they stopped actually char-grilling the burgers on the premises. Nowadays it seems like they're microwaved or something like that??? FWIW Bret P. |

We got a Red Robin close to here too, though I have'nt ate there just yet.
Been too broke to eat out much of anywhere lately. Honestly,my home cooked burgers kick most all those places @ss. ![]() But yeah no doubt there are times when a fellla is either too lazy or too busy to cook. No in-N-out burgers around here yet either. Just recently got a Carl's Jr. here again on the So. side of town. They (Carl's Jr.) used to be here years ago,and IMO they were absolutely kick @ss back then, they were a lot like the old BK with a good size freshly made & char-grilled burger and they had crinkle cut fries too (did I mention that I really like crinkle cut fries?),but then outta nowhere the Jack in the Box chain bought up all the Carl's Jr. locations here and Carl's Jr. left the area completely,so I got absolutely no idea if they are still any good or not? Too far to drive to the So. side of town just to find out,my brother & SIL live down there, but the only time I get to that side of town these days is when I'm going to their house to eat (holidays),so I have'nt had a chance to go there. Besides,if I'm gonna drive that far, there are at least a dozen other local burger joints that just flat rule,so I'd go to one of those places instead,as I know for a fact that I'll get something good at those joints. Anyhow,I digress,I better stop talking about burgers before it makes me hungry for one. Bret P. |

I miss the OOOLD Hardees mushroom and swiss..it was fantastic..i mean almost incredible...
I really like Red Robbins mushroom and swiss...its awesome, and the fries are impressive...but its so expensive its a treat once a month or so... Once in a while i get the McDs angus mushroom burger..if you leave the white goo they call mayo off its really good..a little dry..thats probably why they use the goo... ALL said...moms burger fried in a cast iron skillet, with the burnt edges on wonder bread with lettuce, and a beefsteak tomato (fresh from the garden) red onions with mustard ketchup and miracle whip, and the cheeeap cheeap dill pickles, the ones that almost take your breath away when ya bite into them..now thats a burger...im salivating more than Pavlovs Dog..lol |

I only eat this this unhealthy stuff once a month or less but Wendy's is the only one I prefer, my son's prefer Mc D's, it's cheaper but it's crap. Someone said the new Sea Salt Wendy's fries are no good?...you crazy
?! I can now eat them without loads of Ketchup & salt for flavor, I now eat them plain. They are also buttering the buns, yes the burgers are better, all the changes are for the better, if you want poor quality and cheap prices go to the big M.

I went to Marco Island, Fla about 15 yrs ago on a golf trip. While I was there I called a Dave Thomas who I thought was an AMOCO dealer from Maryland who owns a place there. Dave Thomas from Wendy's answered the phone. He was a great guy and we had a nice conversation. Didn't he have a '55 or '56 Pontiac convertable. Jon

Total sodium content for the new Wendy's fries is up 43%. Truth is there's already too much salt on most all our processed foods. And for those of us who already have HBP,,,that's probably not a positive thing... And for sure coating our fries with unnecessary chemicals (sodium acid pyrophosphate) & added sugar (dextrose) is'nt the answer either. The new Wendy's fries also have more calories and fat than the original fries had too, more everything (Carbs & Protein) to be honest. They may be "natural cut",but they're not "all natural" either. In closing I'll add this,we hear testimonials of people saying that they can taste more "potato" in the new fries,I say that's mostly BS,those eaters minds are responding to the added salt and nothing more,if it were more potato flavor that a given persons mind were reacting to,we would likely want absolutely zero salt or such on our fries,as that option would give us the greatest amount of potato flavor right, but nobody really wants that, now do they? Me,I tend to prefer less salt on my food than the average person does, things like potato chips and corn chips and nuts & such all taste significantly better to me when they come with less salt on them as SOP,specific varieties like Lays & Ruffles reduced salt potato chips and Fritos reduced salt corn chips all taste waaayyy better to me than their regular fully salted variety chips do. To me,salt just buries the true flavor of whatever food it is that you are eating. FWIW Bret P. |

FYI, sea salt is the same as any salt, salt is salt and it all came from the sea at sometime, there is no other place for it to come from. Mined salt came from salt deposited years ago from the sea, do some research on it and you'll find sea salt doesn't taste any different than Morton salt.
I believe SC is right the difference isn't sea salt, it's other additives that have gone into their new fries that change the taste. I quit using salt on most of my food years ago as it isn't good for the human body to have too much sodium. I instead season most of my foods with pepper. Wendy's is not noted for having food that is good for the person eating it. They also have gone through a big shake up selling off the Arby's line which they had acquired recently and are moving back to the former corporate home here in Dublin Ohio just outside of Columbus. BK is my choice too and I usually have the chicken tendergrilled sandwich on wheat ciabatta bread and apple fries and a diet. If I'm going to splurge and eat beef I go with Hardee's Angus thickburger, worse for you than many other big sandwiches, but they taste really good. I usually tell them light on the condiments too as they put way too much on their sandwiches, it just runs off when you go to bite into them. BK has also recently went through a big shake up and they rousted a bunch of dead corporate weight and are in the process of redoing their menu and trying to put emphasis on fresh food prepared in each location, not packaged and shipped to each store. I have an inside track on this as I know the owners and managers of 5 store in my area. Mc Ds, I will not even set foot in there. Any food that doesn't deteriorate and degrade as food does has way too many chemicals in it for me to eat. Look at this youtube video about McDs 4 year old fries and cheeseburger:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4IGtDPG4UfI |

Just had one of the new burgers (and buns) at lunch, sorry to say I didnt like it, had a funky taste to it. Maybe it was the bun, I'm not sure. Back to the old tried and true #6 spicy chicken combo for now on!

Fries are way to salty. Dont salt anything(pepper guy).
I empty'm in the bag and shake much off as possible. Then mix up 1 part taco bell fire sauce/2 parts ketchup in the box. My favorite is the local guys "Big Baby". 1/2lb greasy double piled with bacon, cheese, lettuce, tomato, grilled onions, etc, etc.

Wendy's fries from the mid 80's rocked!!!
The last incarnation and the sea salt fries suck!! BK Whopper has gone downhill since they stopped flame broiling on premisses. Just like Screamingchief, I agree 100%

I don't like skins on my fries....
Potato skins are dirty and don't belong on a french fry IMO...
