In my case - what IS my true great daily driver . . .

Absolutely love my current DD - a 2008 GMC Sierra Denali.

Crew cab P/U convenience, 370 RWHP from my mildly modded 6.2 6-speed auto powertrain (with a SWEET exhaust note), fantastic HVAC system, superb Bose sound, plenty of room, comfy 10-way power leather seats, and damned good lookin', IMHO. Pulls my Formy, tools, jacks, spares, etc. on an open trailer with ease. And with the factory 20x8.5" wheels and P275/55 tires, it handles pretty darned good for a 5500# pickup. Best ride of anything I've ever owned, to boot.

Best non-collector vehicle I've ever owned, bar none!

my current 69 G/P fits the bill. Drive it all the time in salt free months. It's given me issues twice. Once in Charleston on the POCI showfield when the fuel evaped out of the carb, pump and lines[ HTF that happened I don't know but it was HOT]. Once when the scrrews backed out of the starter brushes [ another HTF moment]. A hammer got it going that time.

65 G/P waiting on Hoffman to finish painting it, drove it as I do the 69. 17 mpg, roomy, handles well, dependable, great car.

My 88 Cougar, over 500k on it. Bought it with 184k, did the head gaskets and no issue since. Trans laid down and it's waiting on cosmetics and a freshening of the driveline. 30 mpg when I bought it. 22 when I parked it. Still starts on the first crank no matter the temp.

78 K 20 who knows how many miles, test mule,tow truck, driver, woodhauler. Always runs, needs gone thru again as the chassis is weak.

76 K20HD plow truck, runs in the worst conditions possible. less than 200k, abused more than most of you can imagine.

83 F350, 351 Auto 4x4. runs when you want it to, goes where it needs to, blows salt in the winter with a skid in the back of it at all times, 15 mpg. Ugly but reliable.

95 Roadmaster, great car 27mpg on the road@ 80mph, confy, quick, dependable if you keep the optispark dry. 170k on it's clock I think.

Get ready to giggle. I'm loving my current DD. It's a 1988 Pontiac Fiero with a shade over 100k on the clock. I bought it off Dave Wallace here on the forum when I was at Norwalk in 09. The four banger could use some help in the power department but it handles like a go-kart and the mileage is outstanding. The best part is when I get my 6' 2", 225 pound butt in or out of it and people who see me just laugh out loud.

most reliable car i've ever owned/driven for more than 6 months. got it for a song in 94 with a burned valve. shade tree engine overhaul along with a rebuilt head and i was in business! 40+ mpg on the highway, AC blew cold, started every day. the only time it ever let me down was when the fuel pump croaked on me on I64 in newport news. i didnt mind to too much, as it had 150K+ miles on it by that point, so it was probably well past it's "sell by" date.

My current DD is a fun drive. My '99 GTP. It's fairly quick and comfortable, gets decent mileage, and has been damn reliable.

I know so many people who are car enthusiasts, but drive something boring every day... while the fun stuff mostly sits in the garage. And I did that for awhile, too, then got a "life is too short to drive boring cars" attitude.

My current DD is a 2011 Mustang GT coupe with 5.0 and 6M. It's quiet and smooth when I'm in relax mode, and mid-12 fast when I feel like playing. Before that was an '09 Mustang GT that was great, and before that an '02 SVT Focus (which may actually have been my all time favorite).

'01 6 sp Trans Am. Very fun, excellent mileage, and 326 rwhp on tap! But it seemed like the idiots of the road tried to take it and me out every other day. I had too many close calls. When I had the chance to get a new Grand Cherokee at a killer price, the T/A became a garage queen.

Now 7 years later, I am so glad I did it. The T/A has only 40K miles and is in near-mint condition, and I love the Jeep so much, I won't trade it on a new one. The 4.7L HO was good for high 6 second 0-60 times in magazine tests, and it feels that fast. If it got the same mixed cycle mileage that the LS1 got, it would be perfect.

Sidenote: I drove my '87 Comanche Mon-Thurs this week and my '88 GTA today. Tonight I drove the Grand Cherokee for the first time in about 9 days. It rode like a Cadillac compared to the other two!

Irony: before I lowered the '01 T/A, its ride was smoother than the Grand Cherokee's.

The most fun car was my 72 GTO post. I put a 68 350 2 bll. with 2.56 gears while I saved $ to build the original 400. It had a M13, 3 spd. Drove it across the country and many more miles.

Current DD is 05 Dodge 3500, Cummins, auto, averaging 22.4 mpg with petroleum, 21 with home made bio diesel. Love it!

I drive my '72 Lemans 2-3 days a week still. I'd drive it more but I have to rotate through all my cars to keep them exercised. I bought it 12 years ago as my first car that "I" bought as an adult and still have it, still enjoying it.

I like my '05 GTO a lot... My last old car DD was a '65 GP..389/400 Mayfair Maize with black interior and 8 lugs. I bought it in '97 sold it in 2000... though I quit driving it daily in '99 when I bought a new truck.... I racked up 40,000 miles on that car...

My current car I guess. Best all around dd I have had. 2011 VW Jetta TDi. Runs decent, handles good and gets 45mpg on the highway at 80mph. I can run it fairly hard off and on during the week to work and back and still manage 34+mpg.

Anything large enough to allow me to drive it. I'm very flexible, but I can't change my 38" inseam and I can't drive a car with a sunroof - interferes with my head (they remove 1.5 inches of headroom).

My 01 Durango has been good to me. I bought it new for the wife when we lived in WI. After we moved back down South, we got her a van and I got the Durango. 120k miles and it hasn't left me stranded yet. I've serviced it regularly and used the AT+4. A couple of brake jobs, an axle seal, and a TPS is all I've had to do. I did have to get a dealer raping on a module, but it was still cheaper than a payment. If it holds up, it may become my oldest daughter's first car. She's gonna tear it up anyway and at least she will be safer than being in a compact car.

I think its becuase there are many who cant afford to have two "fun cars". My daily ride isnt really fun but its the best car Ive ever had.

My current daily driver, 1987 Turbo Regal, 155,000 miles runs 12.20s at 110 mph and gets 20 mpg. My other favorite was a 96 Caprice ex police car with the LT1, had 195,000 miles when i sold it to buy parts for my 69 GTO.

2001 Chevy Impala, 30+ MPG, Will run 117mph ( better have a lot of room lol ) is comfy and has 230,000 miles been very trouble free, Hub bearing and half shafts is about all we have done to it.

I absolutely love my 2004 GTO DD. It's fast, comfortable, the AC works when needed, it's simple no fancy crap to breakdown. And I can still blow away most things on the road. Got my XM direct that I can also play my iTunes thru. Its got everything I need.
