Says YOU! A division of General Motors Corporation decided that the name applied to all Pontiac GTOs prior to 2004 was appropriate. The same holds true for the 2004-2006 GTOs. I'm sure if GM had consulted with YOU they would have gone a different direction.

What, in your superior opinion, constitutes a GTO? Keep in mind that GOAT is slang for GTO. The tens of thousands of owners certainly consider them Goats. Come to think of it, back in 1976 when I bought my '72 GTO, I heard much of the same ****.

I think they missed the mark on that first pic.

I really like this one & would love to have one.

Just wish it could have a new traditional Pontiac motor (IA or KRE) but I'd still take it.

Default The 2000's GTO's

Im sorry but i really think GM dropped the ball with these cars. They could of done so much more. To under powered. Cheap rear end. They should of done it like the Vauxhull VXR8. This is the 4 door version of the GTO IMO. plus i think the Mallo is Awsome too. To bad most of the good cars made today dont come to USA

Are you kidding me? They had 400 horsepower. More than any other Pontiac production car ever made.

Rearend is plenty strong. I have nearly two hundred dragstrip passes on mine, with 1.4x 60ft times

oh no another GTO concept for everyone to hate on...
i like this one too. i guess i just like the "concept" of a new retro styled GTO.
i dont know why all the negativity on this thread.
jeff threw out a pic of a concept and everyone started hating on it.
no need to argue or get p o'd because we dont all share an opinion. but in the future, i'll try to keep my opinions to myself, so no one gets offended.

Appears to be a version of the same car the G8 came from, with the LSA engine.

That's an awesome car, and I would love to have one. However, at 45,000 British Pounds, (roughly $70,000 US dollars), I doubt Pontiac would have sold many
badged as a GTO.

In all honesty..... I'm glad the '04-'06 GTO was built in Aussie..... Its built better than anything GM built here in the states around that time. The GTO, aside from the 2010 Camaro, is pretty much the only late model V8 rear drive offering from GM..... sorry.. but... 4th gen F-bodys are junk IMO... and I don't want a newer Vette.... to hard to get in and out of and they are closterphobic.... same with the 4th gen F-bodys.
CTS-V, coupe, sedan or wagon.

So, 400 horsepower is LESS than 370??? Are you saying that NOBODY ever broke a safety trac? I bought both my '04 and '06 brand new and neither has a rearend problem. I'm glad that GM DIDN'T drop the ball with these cars. And a few posts above you'll see how magazines and so-called enthusiasts were clamoring for certain Aussie cars to come here (me included) but ended with constant bickering about useless bs.

I'm not saying the new cars are perfect, they're not. I remember one of my first posts on this site back in 2003 was entitled "Be Thankful", as I was one Pontiac die-hard that yearned for a new two-door, V8, RWD Pontiac. My thoughts then were that even if the car didn't fit your desires, what was the point of dissuading others? How would that convince GM that Pontiac deserved investment dollars in such a politically incorrect car?

When I read that the car was approved I was elated. When I first saw one on the dealer lot I was scratching my head thinking wtf? I had written it off for a couple weeks but I still had the itch. I went back, test drove, and it's been nothing but love ever since. This was 2004 and I bought a second one in 2006 and still have both.

I apologize to the op for participating in the derailment of his thread, in fact, I wasn't even going to post how much I despise the rendering he posted. But I feel thirty five years of Pontiac ownership gives my opinion as much credibility as anybody else. I know this: There ain't a "Stock" prior GTO in existence that can hang with the 2005-6 GTOs. Underpowered? Yeah, okay. But your OPINION is just as valid as anybody else's. And do you really believe that the negative display actually encouraged GM to go further?

Wow! 5 pages of continuing discussion so far from a picture of a conceptual abortion.

so after searching more on the web about the monaro, i have READ that this is not the evoloution of the "A" body.
the monaro was smaller; 112" wheelbase
it was originally based on another holden platform which was another opel platform; and it was also rebadged just like the GTO. not an 'A" body
maybe not fact but this is what i've read. i've read nothing that relates this to the "A" body.

monaro was retired for 24 years. re badged. so theres the evoloution theory out the window.
THEY STUCK A GTO LOGO ON IT. fact. there is NOTHING that ties the 04-up GTO's to the old ones; maybe it wasnt necessary but just saying and pointing out the obvious. no pontiac engine. foreign car, not made in america.
all i stated in my first post is that the pictured concept looks more 'GTO like" to me than the new GTO.

didnt mean to get brad or pont3's panties bunched up but the childish responses were amusing. Be big boys and try not to take it personally.
i didnt say i wished they made this concept, or any such thing.

FYI...

From 1964 - '67, the GM "A" body had a wheelbase of 115". In 1968, GM reduced the wheelbase of the "A" body to 112"...

In 1974, when they built the GTO on the "X" body - the wheelbase was reduced to 110.8".

Once again - do these 1971 Monaros look like a Nova or do they look more like your car?

To my eyes - it's a GM "A" body - just like the Buick Skylark/GS, Chevy Malibu/Chevelle, Olds Cutlass/442 or Pontiac LeMans/GTO of the same year.
