You don't go to White Castle at 0300 to get Beer, you go there to get the Beer in you soaked up by the 6-8 sliders you just woofed down. White Castle selling beer defeats the whole purpose!!!

It will be interesting for the workers. Ask any convenience store clerk about how ugly it can get when a drunk walks in wanting to buy alcohol; they're not supposed to, but the drunk won't see it that way.
And has anyone ever been in White Castle at 3 in the morning after a late night of partying ? You get some pretty ate up mental cases in there - Depends on what others define is a restaurant; my wife says if they don't bring the food to the table it's not a restaurant, it's fast food.

LOL... I still get a "conditional" hangover if I eat WC, because for years, the only time I ate it was after a night of drinking. If I eat a slider now, even when stone cold sober, I'll wake up feeling like I went on a bender the night before!
Evil stuff! |

I'm wondering how old you are? In my youth (I'm 53) the liquor stores had drive in windows. You could ask for a half pint vodka, a carton of orange juice and a cup of ice and they'd hand it right out the window to you.

I dont really care what habits anyone has and dont want anyone concerned about mine. My only issue with the "legislating morality" arguement is that I know eventually some group or judge or legislature is going to come after me for more "revenue" because someone drank, gambled, smoked, screwed or shot up all of thier assets and "we need to help them". So yeah, sometimes I go against my own principles and vote or write against something I normally would view as personal choices because i KNOW that someone, sometime, is going to come after me for the money to waste on lost causes or at least prolong a situation that would shortly work itself out. Now, before anyone assumes things about me, I do believe that sometimes people do need help.

Your other point regarding legislating morality has one fatal flaw. It assumes that because various vices are illegal that the activities cease to exist. This is the same mistake that every do-googind law maker makes. It is the mistake that was made when the constitution was amended to make alcohol illegal. However, we have the benefit of hindsight to tell us what happened. Not only did the consumption of alcohol continue, it also gave drinking an aura of being "naughty." It became titillating to sneak around in speakeasies and drink. Of course it also had the unintended consequence of giving rise to organized crime in America, which continues to this day. There is a reason for the saying "the road to hell is paved with good intentions..." Andrew

Why would pay more for beer at a fast food joint when you have plenty in the vehicle?

you dont go to White Castle(Royal Castle and Krystal here) to get drunk,
you go there at 2 AM to recover from the night of drinking. You havent lived until you wake up with an onion hangover

I dont understand what the big deal would be? If your going out to a bar its usually to have a few or more drinks,if you go to a white castle for some ?food? and they serve beer its like ahh cool I can get a beer with my ?food?. I doubt anyone would want to sit at a white castle and pay way too much for beer just to sit and drink beer. Iv'e never been to a white castle but I would imagine its like a McDonalds or Burger King and if they served beer I wouldnt not take my kids there because -ohh my they sell alcohol, must be a bunch of drunks in there! Seems to me it would just be a bunch of people eating and some of them might be drinking a beer. But, I live in a small town and sometimes dont get the BIG picture.

No arguement with that Andrew. It's purely self motivated interest leading to some of my conclusions. Your right in the aspect that the outcome is the same...someone will want in my pocket to "help" the vices victims.

LOL.... When I moved to FL in '87 they had recently made it illegal to drink hard liquor while driving, so the ABC Liquor stores only sold beer and wine at their drive throughs, which were still legal to consume while driving. It changed not long after that..
