Looks like I'll be going to Daytona after 18 yrs ! I only stayed in the infield, so need some grandstand recommendations. I hear the towers are the best. If you've been there recently, let me know your recommendations. My options are Depalma or Oldfield towers before the start line and Keech and Lockhart towers after the start.
Appreciate your seating and other tips! Thanks! Ed

Anywhere in the front stretch - up higher is best - helps to see the back stretch.
You can probably buy tickets under face outside on the day of the race - they won't sell out.

Gotta get to Daytona or Talladega some day. I LOVE the restrictor plate Cup races . . .

I've been going for years as I work 2 miles from the track...Roberts or Wheatherly towers are my favorites. Unfortunately they're a two day (race) minimum per seat. Segrave and Depalma towers have single day (race) seats available. Whatever you decide, get seats as high as you can get.
The good seats go quick and the race will be sold out. Tickets will be available through scalpers all around the speedway. HTH, Mike Last edited by mmarx; 01-06-2012 at 03:37 PM. |

![]() That's the one track I haven't been to that I still want to see. Done both Daytona races, the Brickyard, Bristol, Dover, Pocono, & of course NHIS.

In front of your TV.
I went for the 1st time ever 2 years ago. Lockhart sounds familiar, wife & I sat fairly high just outside the end of pit row. It was fun for awhile. But it was way too cold, when the sun started down, I was miserable. Stayed and froze thru the 1st stoppage with virtually no info on what was going on (edit - this was the year the track broke up). When they stopped it a 2nd time, I shocked my wife and said let's go (she was a good sport to go, but not exactly the thrill of a lifetime for her). First sporting event I think I have ever left early, that includes HS stuff. People were streaming out the exits with us. We headed home, about 90 miles. Got there in time to watch the end on TV. I'll never go back. I'd rather spend my money doing the Speed Tech laps again. It was cold in Atlanta when I did it back in '05, but THAT was fun. http://www.speedtech500.com/ |

Let's see if we can't plan on that, Chris. Sounds like a BLAST!

Thanks all for the tips. I ended up with seats fairly high in Keech Tower. Depalma and the towers closer to the start line were sold out. Ketch is at the pit exit and the seats are high enough to see both turns. Can't wait!
John, sorry you had that experience...I remember watching that race on my couch...it was messed up. The races I attended way back were from the infield, and they were great, but also sunny and warm. My screen, amp and subwoofer just can't match the thunder of the cars live. I need another fix!
