Definitely idle stop solenoid! Just looked at pictures of my original 54K car...

Also the Oil Pressure and the brake Prop valve have the same style booted connector.

Jack - Thanks for the information. My oil pressure switch wire is blue (the wiring diagram calls it purple), and the wire in question will not reach down to the sending unit. So, I am pretty sure it is not the oil wire.
I have manual brakes. I can't find anywhere on or around the master cylinder that the female connector could hook onto. The wire in question is not long enough to reach down towards the wheels if this is where the brake prop valve is. If you think I have a brake prop valve on manual brakes, please let me know where it is located. As you can tell, I don't know what a brake prop valve is. Thanks. |

On a '67, it's mounted down on the frame rail in the area of your feet. Follow the two brake lines from the master cyl, they go to the valve. The electrical connection that goes to the switch lites up the brake warning lite on the dash if there is a large pressure differential between the front and rear systems.

Worst case just ground the wire and see if any dash light come on or you blow a fuse. Either way you will find out what it is..

If I remember correctly, the oil pressure wire IS blue...the brake prop valve wire is brown or tan I believe...and the idle solenoid is black with white stripe.
I'm 99.999998% sure it's the idle stop solenoid wire.
