North Carolina and Virginia should have been included on that list.

Good for him.
But fired 6-7 times and the guy lived?

The article doesn't give details about the number of hits the bad guy sustained or what kind of handgun was used. The point is not to kill, but to defuse a situation that threatens your life. I'd say that the civilian accomplished just that.

Agree.
Raised in a hunting family. Only shoot to kill. Not intentionally wound and finish off.
Guess it stayed with me all these yrs...

Obviously shot placement is critical, but using a firearm in self defense is not exactly the same as hunting.

It is interesting to note that the store had a "no guns" sign posted, which the criminals clearly ignored (shocking!). The man claims that he didn't see it, and thank goodness for that...

Got that right! My G19 throws a wide one every 5-6 shots depending on load.
Tried bout every brand/type last 20yrs in it. Federal FMJ been most accurate.
"No guns". Yep, pays to play dumb sometimes.
Maybe they'l change the policy.

A thoughtful, armed criminal will feel safer to ply his trade in a "no guns" establishment. I explained that to my banker (banks are a no-guns establishment in OH) and she was pretty stunned when it dawned on her what I had just said.
