Keith, or perhaps one of the people familiar with Woodward Ave, may recall this dealership.

My first Pontiac (2nd car I ever owned) in March of 1995. The car was an all original 1980 Firebird Esprit that my brother and I purchased in Sept. of 1994 with 96,000 km's on the odo. We were 18.

Ahhh...the B-58 Hustler....beautiful....and deadly....to its crews!
I think they lost about 1/4 of all the B-58's produced in non-combat accidents. They were a miserable bee-atch to maintain for ground crews. Trivia : Gene Roddenberry, creator of Star Trek, used a feature of the B-58 in his Star Trek TV series. In the TV show, the U.S.S. Enterprise's computer spoke to the crew in a female voice, that of Roddenberry's wife (Majel Barrett), who played Nurse Chapel on the show. Roddenberry got the idea for using a female voice to provide warnings and instructions to the crew from the B-58 Hustler, which was the first aircraft to use a female voice (contained in tape loops) to warn the crew of instrument reading or electronic failures. Trivia 2 : The father of 1970's superstar John Denver's ("Rocky Mountain High") set some speed records as the pilot of a B-58. Trivia 3 : The B-58 at the USAF Museum in Dayton has one of the escape capsules on display. Their B-58 is the finest in the world, and has been in a climate controlled display hangar for decades. In 2000, they discovered a leak under the aircraft. They found it still had about 200 gallons of fuel in its tanks. Best looking bomber ever made. ![]()

Not sure about any of you, but doing this was one of my favorite things as a kid. My aunt Mary worked for Aurora located on Long Island so, I was able to get products from them at half price.
![]() B-36 Peacemaker was the mainstay of the Strategic Air Command portion of the Air Force from about 1948-until the mid 50s as the B-52s started to take over. The last one flew in '59. Few remain today. ![]() Have visited a few, 1 in central Ca, another in Lincoln, Ne and one in Dayton. This Tues going to visit the newly restored one in Tucson at the Pima Air Museum. This pic shows what appears to be a Jadestone green '61 Catalina Safari in the foreground. I'm kinda' fond of those. ![]()

I've driven through that about half dozen times. Interesting how they had to feather the land back directly above the entrance. Wouldn't have thought of that without seeing the picture.
Also LOVE the B&W steam loco at night photo. I'd like to be the guy that works in the little hutch on stilts. |

Great photos again Steve. The girl is stunningly beautiful - great, natural pose too.
About the model kits in the store. I did the same thing. When I was a kid my mom used to go to the grocery store every Friday. She'd take all four of us kids with her and we used to sit in a kids waiting area close to the front of the store and read comic books or smash flies on the big plate glass windows while we waited. We quickly got bored and one time I snuck out and went down to the five and dime store to look around. I found the model kit section and quickly became engrossed in WWII fighter planes, Jets, hot rods, motor bikes and tanks. My mom, all in a panic, found me there and I got a good whipping from dad when he got home that evening! But I was hooked. That became my hangout when I got older and she would let me and my brother go look at models while she and the girls shopped. There was also a Rexall drug store between the five and dime and the grocery store. That's where I first laid eyes on a Playboy magazine - top shelf where I couldn't reach it. The store had a big, matronly woman behind the register and she knew what we boys were up to when we'd come in and she'd always find something to do over close to the magazine rack so she could keep an eye on us. We couldn't wait to get tall enough to reach that top shelf! BJ
