This is great news. Congratulations on hopefully becoming a GM licensed vendor. A lot of guys have been counting on you. if I understand what you wrote, you are stating $408.00 for stripes only? I have a white car and I've been interested since you started. Mine has whatever brand Ames sells. I think their PG. They look good, but, I'm sure Mr. Norwood would spot any flaws from across a parking lot LOL. I do need some help or advice from any of you. Who... is good at installing these? I had to buy two sets because my restoration guy didn't have any experience with early birds that have stripes. He got it right the second time and he probably would again, but I'm just asking for any good techniques, details or tricks on installation, especially on making the transition down through the shaker opening. How hard is it to remove them after being installed for about 6 months and not hurt your paint? Any Ideas guys.

But, to confirm my answer 165th, if you finally got them looking right, yeah, I want a set of stripes for a white car.

When I did my stripe hood..from what i remember..I folded the stripe down the center.. not too sharp... but just enuff to make it lay on top of the center body line...and I just used couple dabs of soap and water..

and on stripes..you can also do the..HINGE Technique.....thats when yah put the decal where yah want it...put tape on the corners to hold it down...and then yah put a long piece of tape across the center........and yah pull up half the decal..peel the backing paper...carefully cut the backing paper with razor... wet decal and car.......and lay that down...then when done....pull up the other half and do the same.......thats so everything stays in place...

Great, thanks for noting your interest! The sales price will be for a full kit, including all the stripes, nose bird, letters, 455H.O. and plastic squeegee for application.

Regarding removal, there is a product 3M makes that can be sprayed on decals to aid in removing them without harming the paint. I'm not sure what it is, but I guess I may need to know that!

Regarding application of the new stripes, I am also now an official distributor of Rapid Tac products. I will be offering their 4 oz spray Rapid Prep and Rapid Tac for those of us who are doing one time installs. Soap and water, water with alcohol... all those techniques are good inexpensive "techniques" of wetting the surface for application, but the amateur may not get it right.... So that's why I believe in the Rapid Tac products. Since this is an expensive one time shot, you might as well stay with the best.

Finally, regarding placement, I like how KeePat did it. You can see his application tricks on the sticky on the top of this board. The Rapid Tac folks are using a grease pencil to make match marks which is also a good tip.

The shade of white on the car will not matter. The blue stripes will be exactly as the NOS stripes, so the blue is an aqua/blue color. Very pretty and a strange one off color, but not close to Lucy Blue. Some here have indicated a Lucy shaker looks fine next to the blue/green stripe.

Does anyone have an original paint shaker to weigh in on the color the shaker was originally?

The shelf life should be 40 years or so, similar to the original stripes, however, if extended shelf life is anticipated, I recommend they be removed from the shipping tube and stored flat and inside in a cool dry place. This is needed primarily for the transfer paper and backing paper (see my rants on this topic in other parts of the thread) more so than the decal itself.

Original shaker color on a white car was Lucy Blue. It DID NOT match the stripe color. This was documented by an original owner of a 71 that had to repaint his shaker due to a stone chip. The correct color match was Lucy Blue.

I will take a set for a white car. I have the original paint shaker for the car as will and have posted a pic of it on here before and can attach that if needed, but what the prior post has stated i believe to be correct as the shaker is a dead on match with my Lucy blue GT-37. Mark

Thank you Bob and Mark for the reminder the shaker is Lucy Blue.

The inks have been matched perfectly to the NOS colors. The blue/aqua stripes is dead on. I can't believe they did that.

The white on the black/white stripe is not bright white. It's leaning to, but not quite Cameo white. Of all the different colors of white I looked at, when viewed on the Lucy Blue framed in black it really didn't matter hardly at all. It looks very very nice!

Some have asked for individual pricing, and I will sell them in that manner in order to be as flexible as possible. I will update everyone with individual pricing just as soon as the licensing is done done.

What started out as an endeavor to create an individual set of high quality stripes for my Trans Am’s has turned into an opportunity to provide full stripe kits to the Pontiac Nation. The first post on this thread was just over a year ago, which is a testament to how difficult this project was. Of course, looking back on it may makes sense, as during my due diligence, I could not think of a car ever produced that has more surface area covered by decals and stripes! This is probably why it was so important to me to get these right in the first place.

I can also assure you it would not have come to be without everyone’s support on this forum! I have thanked many of you on here before but it needs saying again and again… Thank you for your input, NOS samples, technical advice and encouragement. The stripes are in production with a projected delivery date the week of June 4.

GM Licensing: These stripe kits are GM Licensed! In the last few weeks, production had been held up until there was certainty the kits would be able to be GM Licensed. As you may imagine since this is a seemingly low production item the cost of of licensing per unit sold would have been too great. So, in order to keep the product affordable TransAmStripes.net has teamed up with Stencils and Stripes Unlimited as an authorized distributor of GM Licensed products.
