My downfall was milk. Even skim milk has a lot of calories and I was drinking too much. I cut that out and am monitoring what I am eating. I am trying to ride my bike 5 miles 3 times a week but with 3 kids playing baseball, finding the time is difficult.
I have a blackberry phone. I tried using a similar app called Fat secrete. My biggest issue was tring to find certain foods and figuring out portions. It was a big pain in the @ss.

My Fitness Pal is linked to a database that includes LOTS of foods and portions. For me it is not exact science. It is a tool to wake me up to what I was doing wrong.

I figured out the secret to loosing weight...at least for me..Its has to be the right motivation. for me it was money. We had 26 co-worker put $20 in the pot for a biggest looser competition that went from July 6th to Oct 1st. I lost 40lbs. It was very tough, not only for me but for my family.

I ran every other day and biked on the opposit days. Went from run/walking under 2 miles to 4 miles nonstop at the end. I would usally bike 10+ miles on the oppist days.

I basicly counted calories. No breakfast, slimfast shake and nature valley protien bar (400 caleries) for lunch and then a very lean supper, like rice, ground turkey, vegtibles, tuna, popcorn,... (keeping total calorie intake around 2K or under). No pop, no candy, no sugar products, no breaded food or high fat food.

I don't recommend weightloss for anyone its was a horrible three months. You have to be obsessed with it to make a big change. Had my first and only gallbladder attack the first week I started. It does feel good to be skinny again but non of my jeans fit anymore and I'm at the last notch on my belt.

I hope some of this habbit sticks with me but I do enjoy food. I just enjoyed some greasy chips a mountain dew throwback and a reeses peanut butter cup.

Once down to normal, all you really have to do is look at a grocery store, as 80 repackaging of Sugar, yeah Sugars...
Cut out the white breads, refined sugars, and corn syrups, and you will feel better and naturally be more active...
Grats on your 40 lbs!
PS the "throwback" is better for you than the regular with hi fructose corn syrup
The GOOD>> MT Dew has OJ in it! , yup its why Mt Dew is not Clear !

For those who claim you can't keep it off on Atkins... I eat pretty much what I want now even though my tastes have changed while I was on this diet. I don't do any pop, I eat a banana for a snack, usually 2 a day. My hamburgers are on wheat bread, I have potatoes and chips, I eat lots of green beans and I am down to 198 now on what I am doing. The weight is NOT coming back. Been maintaining my weight since January like this...

I went from 226 to 190 and losing weight was the farthest thing from my mind. What happened with me was that we opened a business and I was still working full time. In other words, I was busy for at least 15 hours of every 24.
I find that when I'm busy, I don't eat much. I eat when I'm bored. It's been 5 years now and I still weigh 190 even though I retired from my job and we closed the business. My eating habits have remained because I'm not a 'sit on the couch' kind of guy. I will always find something to do.
I've been thinking about writing a weight loss book....
Title will be "Work Your Ass Off!"

Seriously, the key is deceptively simple-
DO something every day.
DON'T eat so much.

A 9" pie is better for you, but only when you get up in the morning.

Don't feel bad Rohrt, we all go thru the same thing. The See Food Diet never works as they say it should. Just get off the couch more and you'll do fine. Works for me, until the winter months roll around.
