Fellas,
Picked up a 68 GTO parts car that came with a W72 short block - 481988 block with the XX in the valley. X7 stamp (automatic). November/December 1977 date code. I realize these blocks are supposed to be a bit stronger, and I need a 400 block for my Lemans convt, so I guess this one would work. Only thing I don't know is if there are folks searching for W72 blocks for restorations, so should I sell this one and use something else? Thanks, Scott

The XX481988 block was a recast of the 1971-1974 481988 block. The XX481988 block was used in 1978 and 1979 W72's...though all 1979 XX481988 blocks were cast in 1977 (nov 77).
