Yeah, the serpentine belts do have a different sound. Not much, just different. My first car with that type belt made me think the same thing until I found out they all have that sound.

Got the spacers and here is what it looks like. I guess pm me with what your looking for so this thread doesnt turn into a sales thread. Im guessing some people will want to do as much diy as possible and others might want to purchase a complete bolt on system. I can help with either and anything between just let me know what ya need. Dont quote me but I think Ill need to get 50 bucks for that spacer. If I sell more than I anticipate a might be able to go a lil cheeper. They came out nice, I am definitely swapping out my home-made one for one of these with the arc.

I haven't been doing anything with my car, hoping I am getting a new to me body this weekend. Haven't had the cash to spend on fun stuff, hoping that is going to change soon.

Just did the one in my car. I know the thread got kinda long but if ya go toward the beginning I have lots of pics and I think I posted a video of it running. Been running it since with no issues but I am still working on tying the ac in. I have it planned out and just doing the machinework whenever I get time. shouldnt be much longer.

I just had a thought while re-reading this to get motivated.
Have you thought about doing a writeup of this for HPP magazine?
Could call it the "JimmoSerp swap"

I have been thinking about seeing if I can just move the new CS130 alternator to line up the pulleys. That way I wouldn't have to mess with changing the pulley on it. Have to see what would be involved.

Yea, lining it up shouldnt be a problem if ya modify the brackets. It all depends on how involved ya wanna get. I have been meaning to update this with my addition of ac but I just have to find the time and take some pics. The ac is much more involved tho. Also, I did find an alt pulley from a Cadilac that should work but I havent had the time to try it on or take pics. I will do it as soon as I can.
If I remember correctly, were you concerned about spinning the cs130 ccw? or was that someone else I am thinking about?

Yep, it was me. Problem is that I have no clue which side the alternator I have was mounted on, I bought it off ebay from a junkyard. So I don't even know which direction it is turned on the Cadillac. I don't even remember what year it was from.

That's the problem with buying stuff way before you actually need it. Although I was planning on installing it much sooner, before I ended up with a body off build.

It will charge either direction.

unless the blades are perpendicular to the shaft, it will matter for cooling.

One more thing, being that the alternator you have wasnt meant for that motor originally, it may fall right into place like the ford pulleys did. I had to move the depth because I used the stock alternator but with any luck your alternator might stick out a lil further on its own.

Ok, this part was a huge PITA but I am really happy with how it turned out with the auto spring tensioner included. I have to replace my waterpump and when I do, I will take better pics and document dimensions of the pieces I made as I did before. This is a little more in depth than an average DIY but in hindsight I realized there is a much easier way to make the AC bracket system. I do like what I did but its a little overkill. Also there were a few options and my mind was going in a million directions but I finally chose a direction and stuck with it. Some of you may come up with other ideas. Its too late for me to change mine and i love the way mine turned out but please share your ideas it might help someone else working on theirs.
One of the goals I was able to accomplish was keeping it down to only one idler pulley and one tensioner, unlike the march system which uses an idler on each side of the waterpump and an auto tensioner.
Heres a few sneak peek pics but when I do the waterpump I will document it much better.

Just to update, the CS 130 alternator I got does rotate the same as the stock Pontiac one. It can just be bolted on in the stock location, but I will have to space it away from the engine to get the pulleys lined up. Not sure how much yet, but looks like between 1 and 2 inches.

Unfortunately I just realised after going back and re-reading this whole thread that I do have the wrong water pump pulley. The one I have would cause the pump to rotate the other direction. It is smooth, not grooved. I just need to start looking for the correct 85 Taurus one.
