fyrffytr1,
good luck on the paint! I hope for the best! As for your AM radio, here's what I did: Just use two "modern" 4 ohm speakers wired IN SERIES to test the radio. It seems logical, but to be sure, I checked with an electronics guru and he agreed it was okay. It works fine to do a test on the radio.

I know it's not Sunday and I know my car is not painted ( it may be, I just don't want to call my painter and find out) but I did get a package in the mail today. I got my grab bar bezel back from the chrome plater's. It was very nice before but I decided to try and buff it out a little.
Anyway, it's a lot nicer now. Who knows, I may even have something to put it in before Christmas! I just took the pictures and they didn't come out as good as I wanted them. The specks you see are just dust.Oh, about the speaker. I posted a thread in the parts wanted and got several responses. One was a link to a company that makes original looking speakers. I can get one for $39.95 with the harness. They advised not to re-cone because the magnet in the old speaker is probably weak and the new ones sound a lot better.

Charles,
I can't remember! It has been at least 6 months but, he had to re-paint the interior and fix some places on the outside. It's been ready for final sanding and paint for over a month now. Heck, it may be painted, I haven't called him since he left a voice mail the first of June saying "it wasn't done, but we're working on it." My addition is almost done and when I get the lawn equipment moved out of the shop I will call him unless he calls before. Either way, my car is coming home before the end of July. I will not talk bad about Norman because he has done extra stuff for me free of charge and he may have a legitimate excuse for not having the car painted.

I know what you're going through. Sixteen months was the straw that broke this camel's back.

If it weren't for this heat wave I would be finished with my addition but, it looks like another week to get it done. I only have to put the vinyl siding on and build a temporary door. I'm too old to stay out in 1oo+ degree weather anymore!

100*+ Still better than snow!!!
BTW, if your painter takes his time, that's one day more you don't have to pay him... My shop gets paid as the work progresses.. If they slow down, I don't pay and they store the car for free... Have to look at the bright side!

Norman works the same way. I pay as he does something. I shouldn't owe him very much more.

Yep, yer paint is on hold Phil. It's the weather's fault.... hot and humid is not good for painting.

I ended up having to paint mine after midnight to get the temp where I needed it. Not to make ya feel worse but for a first paint job it came out pretty good.
