He painted the hood(and insert) with the hood on the car??LOOKS GREAT!
Is is base/clearcoat? We painted with the hood off and the hood insert out.He had trouble clearcoating the insert.(runs)Had to do it 3 times |

Old Blue, I couldn't get a good picture because the car was still wet and we couldn't open the paint booth to get natural light. It is Mariner Turquoise.
Blue, I don't know if he painted the insert on the car or put it on after. It was not on the car when I took it to him. And, yes Norman did paint it. I know I have been giving him some grief on here but it was really me wanting the car when I knew good and well the way he works! I shouldn't have been negative because all it did was make me feel bad. Anyway, the car will be home in two weeks and I can start the long slow task of putting it back together. At least until the point of taking it to the upholstery shop for the top and interior installation.

I finally got the addition finished on my shop and moved the lawn equipment into it. If I position the riding mower just right I can even close the doors!!
I spent most all day yesterday getting it done and cleaning up the shop so I'll have a place to put the car. I still have to put all the woodworking tools up but I'll have that done in plenty of time. I also need to get the old stove hauled off. I am going to get the car next Friday. It will be a big boost to have it home!!

Congratulations on finishing the addition and getting the car painted. It sounds like you've been patient and from what I've seen it looks like it was worth the wait.

IT'S HOME!!!
 I haven't done much to it, just some small stuff. Norman put the rear fender eyebrow trim on and My buddy Joe and I installed the tail lights before we brought it home.Today, I put the trunk lid trim on, installed the trunk, door and hood bumpers and hooked the interior door handle mechanisms back up. I also installed the headlight buckets. I do not like the re-pop bucket springs. They are different from the originals. I had to use one re-pop but will see if i can find another original one. I think I have one ......somewhere!! Oh yeah, I take back everything I said or thought about Norman. I am well pleased with the paint job. Norman and I discussed it and I decided not to do the final buff until the car is almost done. That way any nicks or dings can be fixed first. And that was a good idea because I have already put a nick in the upper grill valance!!  Anyway, To settle my bill with Norman cost me $1,500.00. Now, it's off to North Georgia in a few weeks to have the top and interior installed. I may be riding by November! Here are the latest totals with 5 hours labor and final paint price: My Labor @ 454 hrs.............$8,990.00 Parts................................$14, 054.95 Outside Labor ....................$11,111.00 Gifts ................................$2,791.25 Total ...............................$37,037.20

Phil, if you ever get back to the computer... Contrats. Looks really really nice. And brings back memories of my 1st 66 GTO HT... same color.
Oh, show us a photo of the spots you puilled hair outta yer head getting this far. You've held up really well so far. Now the good fun begins in puttin it all back together. Nice garage too. Now you need a sign.... "GTO Parking Only.... I gotta pay for this somehow, so All Others Will Be Crushed For Scrap!" This is copyrighted... send money and you can use it, so I can pay for what my car needs. LOL
